Last year we obtained 3 quotes for the painting of our Complex in Kenilworth. We finally chose Mike Gregory Painters. After the work was completed, I noticed spots on my outside Polycarb Patio Roof but it never entered my head that it could be paint. After I had the roof cleaned, the marks were still there so had the roof cleaned again but the marks were still there so the guy told those marks are actually paint as he is a Painter himself. I then phoned Mike Gregory who told me they are very busy so it won't be soon that he can send someone. After a few calls to Mike, he sent his Foreman who arrived with a clear plastic bucket with clear liquid in. The first thing he said looking at the Patio Roof was, that is not our paint and the guy that came with him, agreed that it is not their paint. However, he used liquid from the bucket he brought to clean a spot on the roof so the marks were gone. He then said the guy who cleaned the roof is lazy and did not do a good job because he just used water to clean that patch. I apologised to them for wasting their time. After speaking to our gardener who cleaned the roof twice, he said he saw them arriving with a container of Thinners so it was not water that was used. I then phoned Mike Gregory to inform him of the deception and asked him to come and have a look for himself. He once again told me they are very busy and that the guarantee had expired which it had not, as I have evidence to prove that. He then said there will be a callout fee to come and check which I found odd as it is his Company's work. I asked what the callout fee was but he did not respond and did not take my calls either. I reported the matter to our BC Chairman. Mike Gregory works in the area so he would not have been going out of his way to come and have a look but he did not want to for obvious reasons
I did a review on this company on Hellopeter on 19 February 2024 so just to recap on that, I opened an account with minimum R3,500 and deposited the money into an FNB account ino Vector Financial Services on 25 January 2024. The account was opened the following day 26 January when Michael Fishman called and informed me that he is my Client Manager. I told Michael that I just want to work with this minimum amount to see where it will take me as I would like to give the profit I make to charity. 2 business days after this, Michael asks that I deposit R100,000 as my investment is doing so well. After several calls from Michael I eventually agreed to depositing a further R25,000 which he accepted but I felt very uneasy about this so wrote to Michael on 2 February telling him that my original plan was to work with the R3,500 only but now and that I have added a further R25,000 after 1 week only of my original investment I do not want to rush into anything else irrespective of the potential gains and that when I am ready I will let him know. In spite of this email to Michael, he called again telling me how well my investment is doing and to deposit R90,000 and he will then give me R10,000 cash bonus to make up the R100,000 and he assured me that I will be making the money back within 3 to 4 days so based on this I decided to do that but just 2 days after that, I received a call from a lady saying that she is calling me on behalf of Michael to inform me that my account is at risk unless I deposit a further R120,000 soon. This is after Michael phoned 2 hours earlier saying that my balance is looking good, having just received the R90,000 2 days earlier. I then wrote to Michael on Sunday 11 February as I was getting suspicious, asking the balance in my account which was R149,342 at the time to be returned to me as I am now done with Finbok. Late afternoon Monday 12 February Michael calls and first asked if I had deposited the R120,000 and when I said no, he said your balance is looking good so just leave it at that. The following day, 13 February late afternoon received an email from Finbok that my account at risk ? Funds were liquidated but no information what happened to my funds. Fortunately, I took screen shots. I Emailed Michael 15 and 17 February but no response therefore my review on Hellopeter on 19 February but to date no one has called me in connection with this. The week before last, Monday 18 March, I gained access to my account so went through all the options and discovered that there were 2 approved withdrawals, one 6 February and one 14 March totalling R40,000 which equates to one third of my original investment. I then tried to withdraw this money, but a message came up “Withdrawal for this wallet is not available. Your balance is less than the minimum withdrawal (ZAR0.00)” ? I then phoned Support 010 980 746 at 10.40am and spoke to Lucas who informed me that according to the records, my funds had already been returned to me 3 days ago which would have been Friday, 15 March. He said he will forward my query to Accounts Dept as he is in Support. However, later on the same day 18 March, I received a call from a number that came up as “Lucent De*****ers” so did not answer but then the person called again so I answered. The gentleman told me his name is Paul and he he is calling from Cyprus in connection with my query. I indicated to him that I am finally getting a response from Finbok. He told me he is a South African from Camps Bay and gave me his email address as paul@finbok.com I also informed him that the number that he is calling from comes up as “Lucent De*****ers” so he said he will speak to their IT guys about it. After telling Paul what my problem is, he mentioned that he has never met Michael Fishman even though he has been with the Company for 2 years but that he will be meeting with him on Thursday, 21 March. He also said that he will call me back at 5pm on the same day so waited for his call but there was no call from him so emailed him in the evening. The following morning he called from a number that came up as “****mers” which I also mentioned to him. He apologized for not calling the previous day at 5pm because they did not have electricity due to a storm in Cyprus. However, he confirmed he listened to the vast no. of calls from Michael Fishman to me in the 2 weeks that I had the account with Finbok and that he also heard Michael telling me that I could be making the money back within 3 to 4 days. He promised to get back to me after his meeting with Michael, latest Friday 22 March. I asked him to email his response and he said he will do that but will also phone me first. He seemed very genuine ? I sent Paul an email on that Friday reminding him that he promised to get back to me latest that day but up to now have not heard from Paul again ??? ZK
I clicked onto a link that promised huge returns by investing minimum R3,500 only. A gentleman who called himself Michael Fishman, Senior Account Manager – Finbok Trading called from a no. 031 006 5913 and asked me some personal questions about my financial situation. I told him what he wanted to know but pointed out to him that I just want to work with the R3,500 to see how far it will take me then take it from there. He asked if I could do the deposit on line with him by clicking on deposit on their website which I did Thursday 25/01/24. Bank account in name of Vector Financial Services – FNB Account No. 63078088854, pop michael.f@finbok.com I asked if he is phoning from Durban and he said no, he is phoning from Zurich in Switzerland and the No. is a No. they use for South African clients as they do a lot of business with people in South Africa. There were also calls from him from nos. 031 006 5910, 5913, 5930, 5932, 5937, 5946 and 5939. After the initial investment, received calls from him telling me that I am making profits in just a couple of days then asked if I could deposit R100,000. I was shocked and said I am sorry I don’t have that kind of money. He said there was a wonderful opportunity available with Netflix that Bloomberg predicts is going up and I could be making that money within 3 to 4 days. I told him that he does not have a crystal ball to know what the market is going to do but in any case I cannot come up with that amount of money and it’s not in my original plan. I told him I have now also read negative reports about Finbok on the internet so will keep to the R3,500. He told me to ignore what’s on the internet and kept phoning daily several times a day and asked me if I could do R50,000 and I said I can’t. He then asked how much I can come up with and I said maybe R25,000 which I thought he will refuse as he wanted R100,000 first but he accepted so I transferred R25,000 on 30 January, 5 days after the initial investment. After adding the R25,000 on to my account I now had R28,500 of my own money which I said to myself that is it but he kept phoning and telling me to look at my balance and see profits were around 30% after one week. Soon after this, he again asked for R100,000 as there is this wonderful opportunity with FACEBOOK. I told him there will be others but he insisted not like Facebook and that an opportunity like that will only come again maybe in 4 years time. He said if I could get R90,000 together he will give me a Cash Bonus of R10,000 to make up the R100,000 and that I should trust him and that I will definitely not lose the money with the Cash Bonus and Stop/Loss as he has 15 years experience in the business and that he is giving me his word. He said if I use my credit card and overdraft facility to make up R90,000 I could make the money back in 3 to 4 days. I told him I don’t live like that so he told me to come out of my comfort zone and take the chance. He said by using your overdraft and credit card availability, you could make the money back in 3 to 4 days. He told me to look at the graphs on their website to see how much people have been making in a short space of time. I thought about it but did not discuss it with anyone and based on the fact that I could make the money within 3 to 4 days, I decided to go for it so transferred R30,000 on 5 February and R60,000 on 6 February to make up the R90,000 using overdraft and credit card as he suggested in the hope of getting the money back within a week thereafter. After receiving this money, he called and asked me to logon to their website and go to Assets then go to Commodities and in Filter type Cocoa giving me the volume to insert then Brent Oil and Platinum also giving me the volumes to insert for these so don’t know what happened to Netflix, Facebook……. but now money into Cocoa, Brent Oil and Platinum. There was also Forex. Being a novice which he knows, I did not understand those volumes that he told me to insert. I asked him to explain it to me and he said don’t worry about anything, only your Balance. He’s there to help me. On Friday, 9 February, 2 days after he received the R90,000 Michael phones in the afternoon and tells me that my account is looking good but should things change he will call me later. Later in the afternoon a lady phones me and tells me that Michael is busy but that my account is at risk of losing everything and that I should put in R120,000 asap to save my investment. I told her that Michael promised me that I won’t lose any money and he gave me his word and that it’s impossible for me to get R120,000 having just stretched myself to the limit to give him R90,000 which I still have to pay back and was hoping to do with the profits he claimed I could make. She said just get R120,000 to deposit into their account and if means there will be penalties for me to pay, they will take care of it as I could be making this money in 3 to 4 days. I told her it is totally impossible for me to come up with that amount of money. She said the market is very volatile because of Biden’s speech but that she will get Michael to call me later but he never did. I got very worried but did not tell my family but mentioned it to a friend who said he is very sceptical and that he will get a friend who is a bank manager to call me. The bank manager advised me to request the balance in the account to be paid back to me so I sent an email to Michael 11 February requesting him to refund the balance in my investment which was R150,000 and in the email I also mentioned that I am done with Finbok as I cannot deal with the stress. Michael phoned late afternoon the following day, 12 February, asking if I deposited R120,000 so I said no, I told the lady who phoned me on Friday that I cannot come up with that amount of money, not even close to it. He said my account is looking good and that I should leave it as is as the Biden’s speech did not happen then just the following day the bulk of the R150,000 in the account was liquidated in their favour, leaving a balance of R46,000 only and then the day after that, the R46,000 was also liquidated leaving me with a zero balance. At the time R10,000 still reflected as a credit but now the R10,000 reflects as a negative balance meaning they have taken everything with the Credit R10,000 that was reflecting still ! NO MORE CALLS FROM MICHAEL AND NO CASH BONUS AND NO STOP/LOSS !!! Sent Michael email requesting the money in my account to be paid to me as per my email request on 11 February and another email yesterday but no response from him. Just went into the account now and it says “Account was not found. Create a new account and try again” Based on my very short experience with Finbok, I advise you not to invest with this company. Don’t fall for the 2 – 3 days you can get the money back and don’t fall for the CASH BONUS NOR STOP/LOSS because there are not any ! It’s a **** !!! ZK 19 February 2023
Derrick Baard, Owner of Purespace Design, was referred to us by Dial-a-Contractor to replace the Barge Boards at our Complex in Kenilworth. (Dial-a-Contractor spells his name as Derick). He asked for a 60% deposit a week before Xmas 2017 and assured us that he will commence job the following week. Well, that did not happen ! After several phone calls, emails and WhatsApp messages to Derrick, the work finally commenced in February 2018. Thereafter, there was no sign of Derrick. He later asked for the balance of his quotation being 40% to be paid to him so that he could complete the work. The Trustees were furious and refused to give him one cent more. Dial-a-Contractor asked that we take the matter up with Small Claims Court and gave us all his personal details. Looking for his home address.

I recently went on a Mediterranean Cruise which included Gibraltar and was told that a 6m UK Visitor Visa will be required even though I told Move Up that the ship is only going to be in Gibraltar for 10 hours, arriving 7am in the morning and leaving at 5pm. Move up forwarded via email the Registration Form and the 4th paragraph of the email read "The cost involved are as follows:- R1,700 Gov Fee non refundable. R1,600 Move Up Case Fee - Full Refund guarantee - covering you in your first time Visa Application". When I asked Move Up for the refund, was told that I have to read the Terms and Conditions so no refund. I also discovered when I went for the interview at TLS in Green Point that the cost of the visa on line or through travel agent is R1,479.00 only. There were other South Africans on the ship who did not have a UK Visa and getting off the ship was no problem. There was no checking and Passports were not stamped. It appears that if you are only passing through Gibraltar, a UK Visa is not required. However, even if a Visa was a necessity, paying R1,479 versus R3,3000 to Move Up ! ALWAYS READ THE SMALL PRINT.

IExchange booked us into Umhlanga Cabanas from Fri 5 June 2015 for a week. Following Wed morning at
about 5.50am I woke up and found the light in the room on ? I jumped up and saw the sliding patio door open then knew there was a break-in. I immediately went to the next door unit 36 only to discover that they had been burgled too. Security was alerted immediately. The Security guy said he saw someone in black hoodie with backpack hanging from 1st floor at 3.30am. He says he called for backup but did not go and see if the Units of the residents were broken into or not. However, the police arrived later and took our statements. Our loss was huge especially because of cell phones. When I asked Mr du Toit how I should be submitting my claim he said he had to discuss the matter with his Reg Mngr. He later informed me that their ins co. will not be entertaining claim because there was no forced entry? When Mr du Toit arrived at the Resort he said the guys came in from the outside as he saw the handle Unit 35 was bent. There were no keys for Unit 36! I took the matter up with VMS 039 6885378. Spoke to Judy Pousson. Later told via email to claim from my personal ins as no forced entry!
