They requested a clearance payment and I paid it right away and sent them the PoP, twice. Since then no-one answers their email and they keep spamming me with smses and emails requesting an importer code. I am not an importer I'm just a regular person who ordered one item from an online company, and I have pointed that out repeatedly and asked for help to resolve this and they ignore me.
My 8 year old Silverback went in for its first service ever, and it is now a joy to ride. Thank you Neil, I'll definitely be back. https://neilswheels.co.za/
Peninsula Roofing (https://peninsularoofing.co.za/) put in a patio roof for me a while back. They were expensive, but I wanted it done well. A rectangular section of approximately 1 x 2 metres was left out at my request so as not to kill off a beautiful climbing rose. Later on the rose died anyway, and so we had an excellent construction company remove the column it was climbing around, which had been a part support for the patio roof, and replaced it with a very sturdy cross beam. The patio roof was still perfect, no problems caused by removal of the column, pitch was great and water ran off okay etc. Then I asked Peninsula Roofing if they could provide and attach just a small piece of the roofing material to fill in the small missing rectangle, as there was no longer a rose bush there and it made sense to complete the roof. They did this (and charged me a lot for it), but the new piece bows in the middle and collects water which goes stagnant, creates ugly red mould which can be seen through the transparent roof, and breeds mosquitoes. I ask Peninsula Roofing to come out and have a look, communicating with the owner, Sakkie, who agreed to review. He did not come himself but sent some guys who arrived and immediately started trying to disassociate themselves from the problem. I asked if they could perhaps just fix it by detaching the roofing nails from the beam on the right (highest side), adding a 1 inch strip of timber to the top of the beam below the newly added section (no more than 2 metres at most), and reattaching. If I had a guy to help me and the roofing nail tool, I could have done this in half an hour myself. These guys left having done nothing, implying saying we must be responsible due to the removal of the column, despite the fact that only part of the roof with the problem is the new piece they added AFTER the removal of the column. Surely if the removal of the column was going to lead to a major problem they should have known at that point and warned me or added the new piece so as to avoid the problem? Instead they happily took my money and now refuse to address the problem. This morning I got an email from the secretary, not the owner I was communicating with who seems to be ducking me, spelling my name wrong (another indication of how they are not detail oriented) and saying basically it's not their fault they blame the column removal (despite them doing this job long after that happened!) and also implying if I waste their time again they will charge me a callout fee (exact wording was "While we always strive to honour our warranties and attend to call-outs promptly, we have noticed that most callouts are unrelated to our previous work. As a result, we have decided to implement a call-out fee for unrelated requests in the future to cover our basic costs such as time, travel, and fuel") - is this even legal when your workmanship supposedly has a guarantee? I suspect it's meant to discourage people from calling them out on poor workmanship, and there must be a LOT of poor workmanship they're getting called out on if they are now, as they tell me in the email, adding this to their Ts&Cs! So, just to see if I could possibly be wrong because I believe strongly in fairness and if this was not their fault, I was happy to take the hit despite being annoyed at the tone they'd taken in the email, I asked another contractor who has worked in my courtyard prior to the column removal (building a step for me in the same courtyard) and who also does roofing (but hasn't ever done a roof for me) to evaluate the situation. They say that the fault is definitely that of Peninsula Roofing who they believe have a duty to make good in terms of the Roofing Association regulations. I have contacted Sakkie giving him the opportunity to make good before I report them to the Roofing Association. I will update here on whether they make good or not. Watch this space…
