The below is a repost of an earlier review because they forced me to remove my reviews before they would refund me which is essentially black mail since they are falsely advertising. I am reposting because they are still ****ming customers. I walked into another branch to ask what their scarves were made from and was told 'cashmere' again which means head office has not rectified the information their staff is giving out and are knowingly doing this. More worrying is how brainwashed their employees are. The below mentioned manageress when I went to drop off my return, because they were going to refund me via the bank, refused to accept it because 'she didn't want to get in trouble' and made ME phone head office. I have never experienced a manager who takes so little responsibility in my life. I told both women the scarves are synthetic and they still 'fear for their jobs' so seem to believe it's better to *******ly sell customers a product falsely than to tell the truth as is their legal requirement. It's ridiculous, and what type of work environment are they being subjected to that they think they will be fired for doing the legally correct thing?? I actually think this company needs to be submitted for legal review because of all the ***** things they are doing. REPOST: I recently visited the Willowbridge branch with two very pushy saleswoman. I was convinced into buying a 'cashmere' scarf which was R699 so quite pricey for a scarf. I say pushy as well because I was already uncertain and then the manageress was trying to push me to buy a second scarf. Anyway, I bought the scarf because I believed the price was justified by it being cashmere. So I am in Tygervalley the next day, and halt in my steps because I see the same scarf at a spa at the entrance. I go to check and the scarf is R200 and is made from 100% polyester. I figure it might be a knock-off brand so go past the Out of the Blue branch where I purchased the scarf and confirm with the manageress that the scarf is cashmere. She confirms it is. I return home to look at the scarf that I have purchased and it has no label confirming what it is made from or where it is from etc. (which is a legal requirement in South Africa). I do some googling for the brand name and find more South African stores selling the same scarf for R200-300, all stating that it is synthetic. So I return to Tygervalley to compare my scarf and they look and feel the same. So I return to the store with my scarf and request a certificate of authenticity that it is made of Cashmere otherwise I want a refund for false advertising. The manageress gets very defensive and claims they can sell items at different prices to other stores. Which yes they can, but they cannot claim and sell an item as made from cashmere when it is not. She did not understand that she had misrepresented the product which is a Consumer Protection Act Violation. I kept telling her it's not her fault if head office told her it's cashmere, but I have found out it is not and it's a big problem. All she could focus on was defending herself; the new girl understood better than the manager that this was a legal issue. Which is also shocking because the manager should be fami**** with the Consumer Protection Act. The manageress said I could only do exchanges on accessories which I told her is not relevant to a Consumer Protection Act Violation and they have to refund me for misrepresentation and from the item not meeting labelling standards. She kept saying 'she just works there and can't do anything' which is a shocking lack of responsibility from a manager. She told me I had to contact head office and sort it out (no help from her). Which is shocking because it is her responsibility to also know what she is selling customers. She did not try to help me whatsoever, but put it all on me to follow up on something when it is her job. I found the official 'Cashmere' brand in-country and I confirmed with the official brand that the scarf I bought is less than 5% cashmere which means it cannot even be sold as a cashmere blend let alone cashmere. I have emailed head office 3 times and phoned 5 times now and each time the 'only person who can help' is either out or not available, and I am told they will get back to me. It has been over a week and no one has even acknowledged my emails to say they are investigating the matter, or even tried to phone me back. It is honestly ridiculous and the worst customer experience I have ever had. How can a business with multiple outlets not have any customer care? This has become a far bigger issue than it really should have been and I cannot believe a company would rather lose their clientele over a scarf that they misrepresented than give a simple refund?? All I asked was for them to confirm the scarf composition was cashmere or to give me a refund for misrepresentation. I do actually believe now after seeing the resold PnP denim jacket post that Out of the Blue is reselling lower quality items and pretending they are premium. I believe that is why my scarf had no labels on it because then I could not see what it was actually made from and thus would believe what I was told. For a company to do this is massively ********* and I am going to escalate to the Ombudsman since they have been refusing to respond. I wouldn't trust purchasing anything from here.
