My dad was admitted on Friday morning in emergency. He has been moved to the medical ward in Victoria hospital. I'm calling to request updates on my dad and that line is forever busy or engaged when you eventually get through the nurses are so abrupt and rude and dismissive. I am honestly not happy with this. My dad was given antibiotics and water pills but gets scolded at for wetting the bed, and the pee pans they give him the put it on the window sill far from his bed he has no energy to move how in Gods name is he even able to get the pan from the window sill in time to pee. When we questioned them about this it was quickly shifted to blame my dad for spitting as old as I am I have never seen my dad spit on a floor Infront of him! How is this humane? Are they animals? The unit manager (short Muslim lady) I don't have her name but I will assure you I will get her name was so rude to my mum after my mom asked for any update on my dad's health or just an update on him! She was rudely told You cannot be asking updates on Mr M Jabaar everytime. How is my dad being treated like an animal when he is ill so I'll that he's just laying there on oxygen!!!!! I am disgusted I am furious I have a good mind to take this to local news papers because wow I get that it's a state hospital but no man Service levels are important! Nurses work with people (lack of people skills). I suggest all your nurses undergo people skills training because of their dismissive behaviour! I would appreciate feedback on this and please investigate what's happening in your health institute in Wynberg Cape Town I am displeased by your health officials at Victoria hospital. I am furious but I am trying to keep my cool. Tuesday 24/09/2024 3pm visiting time my mom asked for an update she was told by the unit manager on duty that she can't get updates everyday and all the time. Wednesday 25/09/2024 at 3pm when my sister got there my dad was left with a pot / bottle full of pee when he needed to pee my sister called the nurse she said I'm coming now visiting hour passed and she didn't return to empty the thing. I would like this to be investigated as I'm not impressed at all when a nurse takes an Oath to care for people and this is what they call care? My mom was the only one that asked, they made her stand outside yesterday when she wanted an update yes I get you have hospital protocol and policies understandable and then just last night, my mom was downstairs already so my went to find out if they have any numbers incase my dad is going to be discharge as the patient on the opposite said he heard Dr say that my dad will be discharged so i just went to find out they didnt even have any numbers, then today when she called this switch board operator was so rude that she told me that she can't call this number all the time. She called then line was cut due to no airtime then she bought airtime and thats when she told me that above mentioned and gave me the direct number that ends with 1188 so she asked her what is 1188 there is no phone etiquette at all is this how services are rendered at your hospital. Please see email below sent to the Ombudsman as well because I am tired of listening to everything and anything these nursing staff tells us. My mom was there today 29/09/2024 at 15:00 for visiting time to see my dad Patient: Moumien Jabaar Bed 15 Male Medical ward. Yesterday 28/09/2024 at 15:00 when we were there the nurses said alot of things to my mom. Accused my dad of peeing on the floor! They leave him drenched in his pee !!!! Whole day!!!! Do you know why? Did the nurses tell you they left my dad with wet bedding wet sheets wet gown the whole time ? The only way he could get a new or dry gown was of he undressed himself? I am not happy at all I feel like exposing this hospital in all newspapers and social media along with all it's staff in the medical male ward because this is INHUMANE!!! I am still waiting for feedback please investigate this asap because I'm fed up tired of this behaviour.
