This company is not to be trusted. They have sent out an assessor (CAT Electronics) to determine why our CCTV DVR does not record. Discovery Insure was told the hard drive is broken and they therefor rejected the claim. We believed them and ordered a brand new hard drive. It did not work. We ordered a second new hard drive that also didn’t work. It became evident that something else was wrong. We decided to purchase a brand new DVR and hard drive but the same Provision model. I tested the new power supply in the older machine and it worked perfectly. A lot of money was wasted. They were supposed to properly test the system. A new power supply sells for only R132. Further testing revealed that the hard drive only received a bit more than 6 volts and not the required 12v. This is why it did not record. Do NOT trust these people!

Our CCTV DVR and television started to malfunction at the same time. Discovery Insure sent two assessors to our house (one from Chata and one from CAT Electronics) and both came to the conclusion that the CCTV hard drive was broken. I ordered two new hard drives from Takealot and none worked. We submitted a report to Discovery Insure that a power surge caused the damage. They decided to ignore this. Eventually we decided to replace the DVR and hard disk at a cost of R5200. When we connected to new power supply to the old, supposedly broken machine, it worked perfectly. Note that these power supplies are identical. After all there was absolutely nothing wrong with the hard disk. The power surge damaged the power supply. We are on their purple plan and pay almost R6000 a month for insurance. To reject our claim and supply us with false information is nothing less than *****. Luckily they took photographs of the hard disk. They now have the serial number of the "broken" hard disk and I can prove the disk works perfectly fine. After confronting the assessor with this information I was offered a 50% refund on the money we wasted because "mistakes happen". I was begged not to go to social media with this. We went beyond what is expected to prove to Discovery that the assessors made a mistake. It is not a client's responsibility to make sure the assessors are qualified. Discovery Insure is to blame for this. I can only imagine what will happen if we have a large claim. Can you really trust Discovery Insure if their assessors can't do their job?
