This is a complaint about an interaction I had with a cashier at Clicks in Springs Mall. My sister and I were there on 27/10/24. We were assisted by a Mr Siyabonga Sibiya who was unnecessarily rude. My sister greeted him when we arrived at his till, received no response. While he was scanning the items, we asked if it was possible to check for our Clubcard on the system using an ID number since we did not physically have it. He responded with a snarky hello, we apologised for not greeting (assuming he hadn’t heard us when we first arrived). We repeated the question, explaining that we didn’t have a Clubcard. He told us that if we didn’t have a card, there was no way to access our Clubcard benefits. He continued to scan our items while yelling “Shaba” across the roll to get the attention of another employee. When this person did not answer him, he started singing to himself about how he just wants to chat. He finished the scanning and asked us if we had a Clubcard , i reminded him that we already stated we don’t have one. His immediate response was ‘I want to load the discount’, again I reiterated that we didn’t have a card and were aware that we would be missing out on the discount. He told me not to cause drama which was strange because I had responded politely and had not argued because I was not entitled to a discount or points without my card. He repeated that I shouldn’t cause drama, so I asked what I had said that warranted that response. Without responding, he started yelling for the other cashier again. This was a very uncomfortable and needlessly unpleasant experience.
