Morning I have lost count of the amount of times since i opened this contract with how many times i have to contact mtn for decent and consistent service I pay my account EVERY month, i get paid EVERY month on the 25th. Randomly MTN pushes my billing date to the 22nd. Do you have money on the 22nd? Because i ****ing dont... then i legitimately cannot even call an ambulance which btw did happen thank goodness i wasnt alone because wow I paid my bill for October on the 24th and checked on the 25th, my phone is suspended!!! and I paid for it!!!!!!!!! I get one month where they go oh i'm in credit so don't worry . Now I owe R117, and either way I have ****ol service or connection. Everyone I have contacted via email and Via the branch in queenswood says its "sorted" every time i go in. Do you train all employees to lie and then have your network be a guessing game? And neh i can't even cancel my contract because then i don't even know what bizarre amount of money that will be hay but ffs ACTIVATE MY SERVICE............. I PAID MY ACCOUNT!!
I absolutely do not recommend this “Old age home”. Long story short my father (Step fathers) mother started living with us for about 2 years. In that time frame she had a minor stroke which she recovered from but the effects thereof left her unable to walk or hold things properly (I think she also like the attention), She also was confirmed through Tshwane to have stage 3 breast cancer in the one breast she had left after a previous mastectomy. My father and his brother had basically written her off as she wasn’t a mother to them but she had no one else so my mother and him decided to bring her to our home. She has a SASSA pension and received medication from Tshwane, my father would drop her there alone and leave her for the whole day to do things herself, I nor my mom was able to accompany her repeatedly and he refused to be better and more responsible for his own mother. It came to a point where she became frailer and more found it difficult to walk, she would fall and hurt herself and break things around her due to her being stubborn and not using her walker, she fell through a big window but the curtain stopped her from tumbling out, she has hurt herself repeatedly, she stopped wanting to eat and for context we would make toast and cut it into those squares, she would only eat one tiny square. She was suffering and we didn’t know how to help and thought Uncle Bens would be very good for her because that’s their whole job? We started looking for frail care and assistance because my mom couldn’t handle her not eating and falling anymore nor was it fair on her. We eventually heard of Uncle Bens and when we phoned, they said the process requires and interview with the family and old person where they will then decide if they would take her. On the day of the interview my mom, the old lady and I went to Uncle bens so that she could see how it looks and if she likes the people. She got out of the car and sat on a chair close to Paulas office so that my mom and I could talk about the process etc and that the woman in charge could come talk to her. AS SOON as Ronel (The main manager for Uncle bens den) came she literally started screaming and belittling her saying why does she look so disgusting, when did she brush her hair, etc and why isn’t she eating and if she wanted to kill herself by not eating then she will be going to hell, she proceeded to call the “Priest” and she joined in on saying she will go to hell and that she’s such a terrible person none of her children want her and how pathetic she is. This was said very loudly Infront of everyone. Now my mom and I didn’t intervene and they said Ronel has to establish a boundary that no one gets away with not caring for themselves etc and to be honest it’s was the first person to be very blunt with her. Ronel then went on and instructed the care workers to take the old lady and go shower her and get her neat, mind you we did not intend to leave her there or move her in as this was supposed to be an interview so there, they said great they will help and take her and we agreed although it was extremely fast. We went over all the processes regarding the SASSA pension and additional payments and how the medications work etc. Ronel told us not to give her phone to her for at least a month because if we give it to her now, she will tell everyone how bad the place is so they wanted her to adjust, reasonable right? They explained that they go once a month with a bus with everyone who needs to go get their medicine from the state and someone is always with them to assist. The date which the old lady would then be taken to Tshwane was supposed to be the 9th of October. My mom and I went home to pack clothes and get her bedding and her comfort things etc, we took her favorite blanket with fluff and one other one she preferred, 2 continental pillows and a couple smaller ones. When we went to drop it off the old lady asked for toilet paper as they don’t give them any. I asked one of the care workers where the toilet paper is and she said in the office and I was like why? The bathroom is here, she I suppose went to get some. We went home and were very hopeful. For cupboard space they give I phoned Ronel that Wednesday to hear if the old lady was doing alright and whether she is eating and Ronel explained the care workers haven’t reported anything so things should be going well, she asked us not to come that weekend as she wanted the old lady to adjust properly before giving her a line of communication, which we understood but realized not having an open source to see how she is wasn’t going to work. We went and visited that Sunday and took her phone and some other things. She complained they do not get enough food, for lunch they get 2 pieces of bread with one side buttered and a cup of black coffee because they do not have any sugar etc because its expensive, we understood this because its such a big property with currently +- 130 people. She also told us she was being moved to the “Old age home house” as the care workers there fif and faf more. She asked us to take her phone home with us because there was no electricity When my mother went back a week and a half later, she had been moved to the other house, BOTH her blankets were missing and half the pillows were gone, my mom went to the office and asked where it was and they had no idea what she was talking about, (There are cameras in every room). She told them to find it because it is wasn’t for donation??. My mom went back and sat with the old lady and asked how things are, she hasn’t been receiving ANY medication, she is on blood so she went back and asked Paula why she hasn’t received any medication? For pain for sleep nothing? She is on Ridaq, Simvastin, Halcion, Loerien, Trepheline and Tramadol. Paula mmmmd and aaah and looked through the diary quickly, my mom enquired why this hasn’t been done because she was supposed to be taken and accompanied to the hospital on the 9th of OCTOBER, no no then Paula found the date which they will be going to take the old people and it was the 22nd of NOVEMBER, 2 months with no medication? She has stage 3 breast cancer! One of the main reasons we brought her to this place was for them to take care of all her. My mom was told by the office that they borrow from some here and from there from all people as they get the meds or cigarettes (There is also theft inside the houses) Ronel in the meantime started a tik tok where she bragged about the tazers she has for her night staff to, yes of course safety is good, but to advertise violence with the elderly “It’s a torch and a stun gun so that you can stun the hell out of them, and you can maybe moer then with it also ok”. This does not sit right for me. It is such a disgrace that there is no place for the elderly to be looked after properly which is affordable and reliable, and if there is no one talks about it. What makes it worse is that we trusted Uncle Bens to provide proper relief and some happiness for the old lady The posts and pictures of this place on Facebook is not accurate to what the reality is for the elderly living there We went and collected the old lady on Saturday after 12, I forgot the office was closing at 12, so I went to Paula and asked her for the SASSA card and hospital booklets as we want to take her to Tshwane this week for the medication, she did not want to reopen the office so I said I’d phone Ronel and see if there is anything that could be done, she asked why and I explained briefly the above complaints and she said its unlikely as they have cameras and that house is for the dementia people, it is not, and the power has been off in those first two houses so how does the cameras work if the power is off?. She then said I must not phone Ronel because she is very sick and not in Pretoria, I said alright, we will come back on Monday to collect the documents. I sent Ronel a whatsapp stating I will make payment on 31st and gave the months’ notice. Half the pillows and clothes we dropped the old lady off with was gone, all medication given was gone, no cigarettes were given back and she had other people’s bags in her drawers. My mother got there today and they refused to let her onto the property, I got a phone call from Paula stating I am not able to get any documents from her today and may only get them tomorrow. I asked why as on Saturday she explained she has the hospital cards and Ronel has the SASSA card (So all documents were not together), I said I don’t understand as on Saturday she said she has it so why not provide it? She then said Ronel HAS to be there and she may not give anything. Keep in mind my mother was standing at the gate not being able to go in. Today 29/11/24, we drove back to collect the belonging, long story short we had to bring police officers from the Hercules Police station for them to 1. Let us on the property and 2. Talk to us face to face. We had a screaming match with back-and-forth claims which you can see in the poor 5-star review, only way they would get 5 starts so well done. Ronel went on like a child whose friend took her toy because I very politely informed her, I would post on Hello peter and email it to her. Poor thing. Happily never have to see this place or people again The entire situation is so bizarre, I honestly blame myself for not being more thorough in researching this disgrace of an elderly care center
