I accepted an offer on my low mileage 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 and submitted all the required documentation. I was subsequently contacted by a getWorth "inspector", who advised that he needed to conduct an inspection of the vehicle, and we agreed on an appointment. The "inspector" contacted me again prior to the appointment to ask whether the vehicle had the Progressive package or the base specification. I then shared the original tax invoice from Mercedes-Benz, which clearly reflects the Progressive specification as part of the full vehicle details. Despite this, the "inspector" advised that the vehicle is not a Progressive model, stating that this had apparently been confirmed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer. When I contacted Mercedes Benz Bedfordview they were kind enough to confirm in writing to me that the vehicle is indeed the Progressive line. I'm willing to share this correspondence. I then was contacted by a person from the getWorth office in Cape Town also trying to convince me that the vehicle Mercedes sold me is not the vehicle I have. They must be using amazingly advanced technology to be able to ascertain without viewing the vehicle. Previous reviews, indicates that many sellers appeared to have had positive experiences selling their vehicles to getWorth, which is why I initially chose to proceed with their offer. Unfortunately, my experience was different. From my perspective, it felt as though the process was designed to secure a commitment to the deal and then subsequently try to reduce the offered price without even inspecting the vehicle.
On 19 December 2024 I drove all the way from Boksburg to Alberton New Market Lifestyle's Checkers Outdoor to purchase 2 x Victorinox Classic SD red 7-In-1 pocket knives as advertised on the Checkers web page here: https://www.checkers.co.za/All-Departments/Outdoor/Camping/Camping-Tools/Victorinox-Classic-SD-Red-7-In-1-Pocket-Knife/p/10789821EA The item is advertised as R239.99 and on the shelf the price is R319.99. I showed the web page to the cashier and after she acknowledged the error she called Sabelo, the store manager for help. Sabelo advised me that the price of R319.99 on the shelf is correct as the price I see advertised on the internet might be from the one of the other two Checkers stores in the New Market Lifestyle Centre. He also referred me to the Checkers Outdoor Festive Promotion leaflet for the correct price, but the item was not listed in it. I stated that surely the pricing in all Checkers stores should be the same, but I received no response from him. So, instead of solving the problem he wanted to give me the run-around. I went to the other Checkers stores and they advised that the Victorinox pocket knife is only sold in their Checkers Outdoor Store. I'm not saying the customer is always right, but surely all the evidence points to false advertising or an *********** store manager?
