I am extremely unhappy with the service I received from Christine du Plesie. She requested that I fill in a pre-qualification form and pay a R495.00 credit check fee before arranging a viewing of an apartment. I did exactly that, under the impression that once the pre-qualification was done, a viewing would be scheduled. However, after confirming that my application was successful, she came back to say that in order to arrange a viewing, I would first need to pay the upfront deposit and first month’s rental. This makes no sense and goes against the initial terms, which were that a pre-qualification (and payment for the credit check) was the pre-requisite for viewing. When I challenged her on this, she ignored the fact that I had already paid the R495.00, and instead insisted on upfront rental and deposit before even showing the property — something no credible agent would ever demand. This is highly unprofessional and appears to be a **** tactic to mislead applicants.
