I had purchased a McCain Vegetable Stir Fry which was overall good except for the green beans that were clearly not cut as some still had the stem on it or attached to half of another green bean. The green beans are the longest vegetable in the package so it was a mouthful and is not the same size as the other vegetables in the stir fry which is odd. I see someone else also had the same experience August 2025 and I had purchased mine in December 2025 so no change was made or adhered too.
I definitely would not even rate this store a one star but I had to to write a review. I had ordered with the intention of gifting an item bought online as a gift hamper to a new Mum however due to lack of communication and my order being delayed over the due date, I had given part of the gift without this item. I still had patience with Makro. I had requested to change the address in hopes that I would still get the item sent to the person directly however I had only now (15th/01/25) received communication that my order was cancelled. So not only was I notified too late that the third party that supplies this item would only open on Monday 13/01/25 when I called in on the 9th/01/25 but my order was also cancelled due to "unavailable stock". Why market something that's unavailable in the first place? I had called to communicate about my order and I had not received any communications from Makro on the date my order needed to be delivered which was the 9th/01/25 when in fact I was suppose to have immediately been notified about such inconveniences from Makro. Why was I not notified prior to purchasing the item that the supplier only opens on the 13th/01/25. Why was I given a delivery date on the 9th/01/25 if the supplier only opened on the 13th/01/25 and Makro had enough time to communicate as I had ordered this item on the 1/01/25. My item was not delivered and it was cancelled and I was only notified via email about cancellation but not about other inconveniences prior to ordering and delayed delivery. I had to call to get the information about why my delivery was delayed. The email sent to me states that they will refund me for the item only but I do not see why I cannot be refunded the full amount as my item was not delivered to me. Absolutely pathetic service or lack of given that it is a big company. Do better Makro!
