Disappointing patient "care" I was warned against this doctor but still went with an open mind. Consultations with him is between 5-7 minutes before he basically pushes you out of the door- not to mention the astronomical fees. During my post-op, follow-up appointment (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy), the check was rushed. He said everything healed nicely, even though I said it's still a bit red in the corners and still felt a bit swollen. I also said that ever since the op, my voice started to give problems and I'm having difficulty with singing basis notes as my voice seems to be fading. He just brushed off my concern, offering no advice, and just said it couldn't have been the op. Now, a few weeks later, my voice is COMPLETELY gone and it turns out that the wound on one side where the tonsils were removed is infected. Something my GP picked up after thoroughly checking. Now I'm booked off for at least a week of work and if things don't get better, I'll have to see an ENT- how ironic. I understand that the operation wasn't the cause for the Laryngitis but the fact that he missed it and offered no medical advice on the issues I'm now facing is beyond ridiculous. The WORST thing was after he told me I have a pollen allergy and needed special chronic medication that he needed to prescribe every 6 months. When I asked him if I can just pay for/ get the prescription from him every 6 months (after all, we knew what the problem was), he said, no, I have to pay the FULL consultation fee every time because, after all, he is a "specialist". Turns out, this medication is a simple over-the counter- Fexo allergy tablet and a kind of flo-mist nasal spray that anyone can get. When I related this to my GP and a chemist, they seemed just as stunned as I was and easily gave me 6 alternatives that I could alternate without needing a "specialist's" script or having to pay extra for the advice. It's clear to me that Dr Troost doesn't value his patients at all- only the money that's attached to them. Unfortunately his entitled and apathetic attitude is the reason why he already seems to have bad reputation. I have no doubt that he functions best in the operating room as his beside-manner needs some work. I can only hope that in future, he makes some serious changes in the way he treats his patients. We are people- not ATMs.
