Disappointing patient "care" I was warned against this doctor but still went with an open mind. Consultations with him is between 5-7 minutes before he basically pushes you out of the door- not to mention the astronomical fees. During my post-op, follow-up appointment (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy), the check was rushed. He said everything healed nicely, even though I said it's still a bit red in the corners and still felt a bit swollen. I also said that ever since the op, my voice started to give problems and I'm having difficulty with singing basis notes as my voice seems to be fading. He just brushed off my concern, offering no advice, and just said it couldn't have been the op. Now, a few weeks later, my voice is COMPLETELY gone and it turns out that the wound on one side where the tonsils were removed is infected. Something my GP picked up after thoroughly checking. Now I'm booked off for at least a week of work and if things don't get better, I'll have to see an ENT- how ironic. I understand that the operation wasn't the cause for the Laryngitis but the fact that he missed it and offered no medical advice on the issues I'm now facing is beyond ridiculous. The WORST thing was after he told me I have a pollen allergy and needed special chronic medication that he needed to prescribe every 6 months. When I asked him if I can just pay for/ get the prescription from him every 6 months (after all, we knew what the problem was), he said, no, I have to pay the FULL consultation fee every time because, after all, he is a "specialist". Turns out, this medication is a simple over-the counter- Fexo allergy tablet and a kind of flo-mist nasal spray that anyone can get. When I related this to my GP and a chemist, they seemed just as stunned as I was and easily gave me 6 alternatives that I could alternate without needing a "specialist's" script or having to pay extra for the advice. It's clear to me that Dr Troost doesn't value his patients at all- only the money that's attached to them. Unfortunately his entitled and apathetic attitude is the reason why he already seems to have bad reputation. I have no doubt that he functions best in the operating room as his beside-manner needs some work. I can only hope that in future, he makes some serious changes in the way he treats his patients. I went to an ENT doctor (Dr Pieter Troost Practice Number: 3003272) for a consultation in early in June of 2022. This doctor examined me where by he drew blood in order to determine if I have any allergies and he had me sleep with one of those machines that monitors your breathing etc while you sleep. The doctor claimed the funds for the machine from my medical aid and I paid the blood test account myself. Till today the doctor hasn't given me any feedback on the blood test results nor on the sleeping monitor, but he expects me to pay him. He handed me over to Nicol Davis & Associates to get his money and after I told them what he has done, they still choose to represent him in this manner. This is part of the criminal activities that this country is suffering from and they all must loose their licenses.

I was refered to this doctor for chronic sinusitis. He spent 10mins with me in 2 appointments. Charging me R400 co-payment for each appointment. I was told an operation for my deviated septum will solve all my problems. This is a birth defect by the way, so it has not affected me in 30+ years. My IGE blood tests came back abnormal extremely high in fact but no clear signs of allergies. He told me to take a dewormer and do the operation. I tried to talk to him about this since I know for a fact I dont have worms and had questions about the other things that may cause this result. He waved me out of the office and told me to make an appointment for the operation. No answers didn't even take a proper health history. I was then told by the receptionist that they are conciderate with the R1800 co-payment I have to make for the op because theybcan charge up 300% of the medical aid rate but will write that off for me. I asked about the pain I have and I was dismissed. This doctor does not care about patients at all! I will be seeking a 2nd opinion and report him to my medical aid.

I was shocked to receive my bill for R1 350.00 for a 10min visit with Dr Troost. The only reason for me seeing him is because he did my previous Sinus op in 2012. Imagine my disgust on hearing that they not only lost my client file, but that I had to fill out forms again. My appointment was for 16h15, but I only went in at about 16h45. I know that my appointment was only 10min because the time stamp on my receipt is 17h00 and the receptionist had to first \work out\" the fee for the \"procedures\" done. What procedures? He looked in my ears, throat and nose. I had to re-explain to him about my previous ops, what he did etc. All of this he would have known if they hadn't have lost my file. I was instructed to have an allergy blood test, a CT scan and then come back to see him again. How much will all of that now cost? - including another R1 350.00 to \"chat\". I'm only on a hospital plan and I'm a single mother of 2. I should have rather gone to Dr Myburgh at Durbanville Medi-Clinic, he's brilliant and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Needless to say Dr Troost won't see me again, or get any referrals. Very disappointed indeed. Shame on you."
