My father had a stroke a few day ago and when we took him there we where stopped at the emergency room enterance and told that they are on strike an will not be accepting him. A day later we managed to get an ambulance to take him there and lo and behold he is allowed in. My mother went there and it's been so long but he still hasn't gone to a ward. They put my father on a bed in POC that was never keen so he was forced to lay there in a vomit and urine soaked bed. When he asks them for water they refuse, when he asks them for a bedpan they refuse and anything he asks help with since he can't do most things himself they just refuse. Everyone else in the POC gets new sheets and gets helped but they just ignore him. When my mother just wanted to help him get dressed they tried to chase her out of the ward but another guy came there and asked to go see someone and they just let them through. When she asked for help for my father to get dressed they said they will only help if my mother pays them R200-00. When he arrived there and finally got into a bed he had a blanket with him which the other nurses took off of him while he was sleeping and gave it to another patient. They also stole his food that was brought for him since nothing was given to him for 2 days. On top of all of this once they are done helping some of the other people they go sit down on they phones for the rest of the time. I'm disgusted and appalled by the treatment of the nurses at Livingston hospital POC and if he doesn't get better treatment when he gets into a ward tomorrow i will not only be launching a formal complaint but will also be taking legal action with all the evidence I've gathered. I would like to advise anyone that is sick or injured that if you have another option to use it rather than this pathetic excuse for a hospital
