Urgent Concerns Regarding Patient Care at Newcastle Mediclinic I am writing to express serious concerns about the treatment of my relative admitted to Newcastle Mediclinic since March. Over the course of their stay, my family has observed alarming issues that require immediate attention: 1. Lack of Communication: My relative has undergone four surgeries without any communication to our family. We were completely blindsided by these decisions, which is unacceptable in a healthcare setting. 2. **Inadequate Basic Care: During our visits, we found that crucial care routines were not being followed. The catheter had not been changed, and the diapers had not been attended to, despite my relative’s inability to walk and reliance on nursing staff for essential hygiene and comfort. 3. **Neglect in Daily Activities**: The nursing staff has also failed to assist with feeding and administering medication, which is critical for a patient in such a delicate condition. It is distressing to witness a loved one struggle to take care of their basic needs due to lack of support from the caregivers. 4. **Perception of ****************: As a Black family, we are deeply concerned that race may be influencing the quality of care received. This adds to our distress and sense of injustice. Despite our discussions with the hospital staff regarding these issues and the promise of transfer paperwork for a better facility, conditions have not improved since our last visit on November 15, 2025. This has left us feeling frustrated and helpless. I urge the management of Newcastle Mediclinic to take these concerns seriously and to ensure that all patients receive the standard of care they rightfully deserve.
