This is a SCAM be careful. I asked some questions about their address etc and the person got very aggressive and verbally abusive with me.
I recently updated/migrated my SmartBroadband Wireless to a special that Telkom advertised - 80gig (40+40) for 299 (sim only). When I received my first invoice I was shocked with a bill of R830 (instead of R299). Upon further inspection I found that Telkom put me on a random 40gig plan for R426.93p/m and never cancelled my old plan. I also realised that my old plan which I had for a year was also a random plan I never asked for. It was supposed to be the 40gig (20+20) for R269p/m and they gave me a random 10gig plan for R409p/m. Went to a branch for help - useless! They just tell you to call customer service. Customer service promised to escalate and call back, still waiting! There is no contract or proof of any of this, only the phone call with the sales person. Nowhere does Telkom give you a detailed contract with cost breakdown. My mistake was to not double check my invoices for the last year because I trusted that all was fine. My cellphone contract is on the same invoice so it didn't ring a bell at that time. Big mistake! Is the onus on me to ask for a detailed contract? How can such a big mistake be made twice? I've lost all trust in Telkom and will definitely take this further!
