Excellent Experience with Softrain Irrigation South Africa! Isaac and team
I have been extremely fortunate to have Isaac and his team from Softrain Irrigation working in my garden over many years. From the start, they provided practical, reliable solutions — initially setting up a basic system where we added manual timers and switchover mechanisms. Despite very poor water pressure at the time, Isaac made the irrigation system work beautifully for our garden. More recently, after we installed a borehole supply, Isaac and his team adapted the existing irrigation lines, added new connections, and upgraded us to a fully automated, WiFi-controlled system. It has been fantastic — efficient, easy to manage, and perfectly suited to our needs. A few minor tweaks (like changing some sprinkler heads) were handled urgently and with Isaac’s usual friendly and professional service. Isaac is consistently knowledgeable, explains clearly what can be done, and collaborates seamlessly with landscapers to deliver solutions tailored specifically to your garden’s needs. He and his team are always efficient, reliable, and ready to help — a true pleasure to work with. Stunning indoor swimming pool room
We contracted Basile Construction, led by Mick, to undertake a significant renovation project on our property. Mick also collaborated with Nick (also fellow builder and architect). The renovation included constructing an indoor swimming pool room, connecting our house to the existing garage, and extending the garage itself. After getting approvals on the architectural design, we met with Mick and Nick at the quoting stage. Mick stood out from other builders not only because his pricing was competitive, but because of his clear passion for building. Upon meeting him, it quickly became evident that he genuinely cares about the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his clients. Throughout the project, Mick and his team worked on-site while we remained living on the property. Although many homeowners choose to move out during extensive renovations, Mick was highly accommodating, coordinating his work around our schedules wherever possible. He was reliable, arriving early to organize his teams and taking the time to meet with us before we began our own workdays. Given the size and complexity of the project, there were many contractors to coordinate. Overall, this was handled well. While there were a few instances where subcontractors provided workmanship that did not meet the expected standard, Mick and Nick managed these challenges, always striving to uphold the high quality of the overall project. One of the most impressive aspects of working with Mick was the way he enhanced the original architectural design. Through thoughtful modifications and suggestions, he significantly improved both the aesthetic appeal and the functionality of the space. His contributions dramatically exceeded our expectations and have resulted in a finished product that is not only beautiful but also highly practical for everyday living. Mick added further value through his knowledge, expertise, and keen attention to detail. He identified and rectified important issues as they arose and consistently offered ideas that elevated the final outcome. Visitors often visibly gasp when entering the new areas, a testament to the stunning quality of the finished work. We are very happy with the final product and would confidently recommend Basile Construction and Mick to anyone seeking a builder who brings passion, expertise, and genuine care to their projects.

Working with José and his team was an absolute pleasure. From the very first visit, it was clear that José has a deep attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality. He measured meticulously — checking multiple times — to ensure precise fabrication and installation of our aluminium windows and doors. We had five doors and two windows installed, each with unique requirements — from double openers to sliding doors along a wall, and a beautiful cottage-pane design. During the quoting process, José took the time to fully understand how each door would operate in the space, considering technical, security, and aesthetic factors. His knowledge of aluminium work and extensive experience were obvious from the start. The quoting was thorough, competitively priced, and once accepted, José worked seamlessly with our main building contractor to coordinate the installation around other ongoing work. After the successful drilling by Badger Borehole Contractors, Jan and Christiaan from JC Water Solutions took over and delivered an exceptional service. They carefully assessed our needs and designed a cost-effective, highly functional system to connect the borehole water to our house supply. Their attention to detail and genuine focus on understanding what would work best for us — even considering ease of use from every household member’s perspective — truly stood out. They thoughtfully incorporated an existing tank and pump into the system, enhancing the solution while saving unnecessary costs. Throughout the process, they demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and a real commitment to quality workmanship. Any minor teething issues common with a new system were addressed quickly and efficiently — often adjusting their schedule to prioritise our convenience, with no fuss. An Absolute Pleasure Working with Aries pools and Theo!
Working with Theo was a truly exceptional experience. He managed the installation of our indoor pool seamlessly, including coordinating with a main contractor. His insights and experience made an already exciting project even better — the result is an extraordinary pool that exceeds all our expectations. Theo’s technical knowledge was especially valuable when it came to managing the heating system for the indoor environment. Thanks to his expertise, the pool’s heating has been optimized perfectly, allowing for comfortable and efficient usage far beyond what we initially expected. The indoor pool maintains a warm, consistent temperature while staying energy-efficient, making year-round enjoyment possible without excessive operational costs. In addition, Theo advised on the installation of an ozonator system, which has made a tremendous difference to the air quality inside the indoor pool area — a critical factor since the space is attached to the main house. Thanks to this solution, the air remains fresh and pleasant, with no heavy chlorine smell, greatly enhancing the overall experience of having an indoor pool. The precision of Theo’s workmanship, combined with his deep knowledge of pool construction and climate control for indoor spaces, turned what could have been a very complex project into an enjoyable and stress-free experience. Extremely Disappointing Experience with AIS Aluminium Windows and Doors
We engaged AIS Aluminium Windows and Doors (via our main building contractor) to supply and install aluminium products, including six sliding doors (three with integrated windows), a skylight, insect screens, and other fittings. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by poor communication, inconsistent workmanship, and a lack of accountability throughout the project. Quoting and Compliance Issues: At quoting stage, multiple corrections were needed. Compliance concerns we raised were initially dismissed. An independent inspection later confirmed that some doors exceeded regulatory limits and required engineering approval. Installation Problems: Installations frequently did not match the agreed specifications. The skylight began peeling within weeks of installation. Sliding door glass cracked — inspections revealed missing/misplaced spacers on nearly every door. Night Latch Issues: Night latches, specifically discussed during the quoting phase, were not included at installation. Despite reminders, they were only installed after sustained pressure and remained problematic afterward. Ongoing Workmanship Concerns: Verbal assurances often differed from outcomes. We had to rely heavily on documented evidence to have corrections acknowledged. Site work was often unsupervised, leading to repeated mistakes and further delays. Corrections typically happened only after significant escalation. Personal Experience with Dylan: In my personal experience, interactions with Dylan were particularly challenging. On multiple occasions, I felt spoken down to and emotionally disregarded. During one dispute about corrective damage, I found the tone and behaviour used to be very upsetting. While these are my personal perceptions, the emotional strain of the process has been considerable. Project Timeline: Eleven months after the initial installation, we are only now nearing final completion. AIS regularly shifted responsibility and pressured us to accept incomplete corrections to bring matters to a close. Conclusion: Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that anyone engaging AIS Aluminium Windows and Doors: Keep all communications documented. Photograph all work at every stage. Prepare for potential delays and escalation requirements. I would not recommend AIS Aluminium Windows and Doors.
