Accounts are handed over to this 'Group' of collection sharks....... All information of the client is received by them. NO attempt is made to contact the client and the detail is immediately handed over to a 'tracing agent' (propably within the same group/owners). The client is then 'contacted' and informed of what is 'owed', payment arrangements offered' or a 'lump sum settlement'....... this by the 'tracing agent'. The 'file' is then returned to Esterhuyze Att. and contact is then again made with the client, as mysteriously now all the 'contact detail' has been verified by the 'tracing agent'........ in MANY instances with NO change to this detail. The amount of CHARGES then added to an account is 'unbelieveable!! Pure GREED for NO thought given to 'professional business standards or with any form of 'integrity' whatsover. With most South Africans already struggling under the burden of a ever growing 'cost of living', is this the '*********' way to do business and treat people who are already suffering under financial stress? I really believe courts need to take a strong stand against these '*******' and business owners need to be made aware (as most of them dont know), with what kind of individuals and companies they are doing business............. !!!
I have been with Discovery Medical Scheme, with Group Membership for a total of 15yrs+. In the last 5yrs+ my treatment/chronic etc has not changed with them at all. In late Feb 25, i left the company i was with. They backdated my Scheme resignation to end Jan 25 and immediately stopped all cover. I then app**** to have the Membership transferred to my personal capacity and even took a more expensive cover option. Cover was eventually incepted on 1st May 25. In this time period, underwriting had discovered a shortfall (1 claim submitted in Jan 25 - chronic etc, for which i needed to refund them R1400+ and a amount owing on a savings portion from the early 2000's when the group i was with changed schemes - R393, which had by now grown to R3800+ at there collection agent? - In the time since then, with the Group i was with, i had left and rejoined Discovery +- 3 times, never having had this amount raised as a query - suddenly it popped up on every portal of Discovery that i have - Banking / Invest etc?) None the less, the amounts were paid up to date, and my cover incepted 1/05/2025. DISCOVERY....... then informed me, that i will be subject to a 3 month (90 days) general waiting period?????????????????????????????????? They have my full med aid history, back to the early nineties, I have been loaded on their Chronic Cover listings for the last 10yrs+ and nothing has changed in my treatment, or the Chronic cover previously approved, that i will now load on my profile? First, Discovery will mention the 90days clause, then they will mention underwritings classification, then they will say " But you ticked the block to say you have current medical conditions ", all, whilst their letter of 'welcome' states that waiting periods are placed on a membership to protect the Scheme for new members, with not much medical history, who join and then submit big claims? This is not ME, you have my history, 2 months later i am wanting to submit the SAME Chronic Cover, but now i must pay you and wait 3 months under a 'General Waiting Period'? If i was a 'new member' with NO history with yourselves........ totally understandable........ but with my years & years with Discovery........... No man.......... what a shame !!
