I walked into casualty with a note from my family physician on Friday afternoon regarding chest pains I have being experiencing. My family and I were treated with total disrespect and lack of empathy at admissions from the ladies. Onica, at admissions really needs to be trained on how to deal with people and taught empathy in the role she performs ( dealing with people with medical emergencies). She was speaking so loud about paying upfront before I could be attended to by the real professionals, that her colleague at admissions had to chip in with her 2 cents about payments before being seen too. The other patients and people there had to hear how much it cost and then she explains the plan I am on, as if I am ********. That was totally unprofessional. I rep**** that I am fully aware of my plan and how it works. I was experiencing chest pains, my little son and wife was with me. They were scared for my health, nervous and anxious about what was going on. She later tells my wife "people take other medication and then come complaining of chest pains". I was attended to by a very empathetic doctor (Shen), who tried to reassure me that I would be fine. Shange, the nurse was attentive to my needs and attempted to make me comfortable as possible. Austin, the professional nurse, needs to be retrained in administrating drips as it felt like a spear going into my hand. Overall I left with the chest pains I came in with, and paid a lot of money to be disrespected by a few *********** individuals. I could not get admitted due to a physician who did not see me, decide that I needed to pay a further R13000 for a scan and depending on those results then , I would possibly be admitted. I was absolutely disgusted with the treatment at Mediclinic Morningside. If you are having chest pains, I would not recommend Mediclinic Morningside hospital.
