I have been attempting to stop an account with Vodacom and have followed several routes to do so, without success. First, I approached Vodacom shops, but they informed me that they could not assist and advised me to call the Vodacom help line. I followed the instructions provided and received a reference number on 6 March 2024. Despite this, the debit order was not stopped. I followed up again by cancelling the service and received another reference number on 24 July 2024. Yet, the debit order continued. I then reported the matter to my bank, and the debit order was blocked. However, Vodacom continued to process the debit order regardless. Even after blocking it multiple times at the bank, the debit order still goes through. Vodacom changed the amount and the new amount then go through the bank. This is actually ***** by Vodacom. It is clear that nobody from Vodacom is providing real assistance, and the service cannot be completely blocked at the bank. All possible methods have been tried, but the charges continue, costing money for a service that is no longer required. This account belongs to a 92-year-old lady, and the ongoing deductions are unacceptable. It raises the question: is Vodacom exploiting elderly customers by continuing to take money for services they no longer use? This situation is shameful and deeply concerning.
