Cell C cancelled my contract despite a payment arrangement – shocking service I am extremely disappointed in Cell C’s lack of customer service and complete disregard for their customers. Last year, I took out a contract. Unfortunately, I lost my job and had no income. In November, I contacted Cell C to request assistance or a payment break while I looked for work. My email was acknowledged, but I never received any help or follow-up. I have since secured employment and contacted Cell C again on 16 February to make arrangements to bring my account up to date. I was told I needed to pay R1800, which I explained I could not afford immediately as I had just started working. A consultant then agreed to a payment plan with me: R780 at the end of February R1200 at the end of March R1200 at the end of April I accepted this and made the first payment of R780 on 27 February (proof available). To my shock, I then received a message from MBD Collections stating that my account has been cancelled and handed over for collection — despite me sticking to the agreed arrangement. This is completely unfair and misleading. Why agree to a payment plan if you are still going to cancel the contract and hand it over? Cell C ignored my initial request for help, then misled me into believing my account would be sorted, only to cancel it anyway. I am requesting: Immediate reinstatement of my contract Honouring of the agreed payment arrangement An explanation as to why this happened If this is not resolved urgently, I will escalate this matter further. Very disappointing experience from Cell C.
