I participated in a promotional survey run by Verbata Brand Chats for Brutal Fruit and Bernini where participants were told they would receive a R100 Checkers voucher after completing the survey. After taking the time to complete it honestly, we were later told the voucher message had been sent “in error” and that only the first 100 participants would receive vouchers — something never clearly stated upfront. This is misleading and unprofessional. Consumers participated based on the understanding that the reward was guaranteed, only for the terms to suddenly change afterwards. Participants were then told they had been entered into a R5,000 lucky draw instead, despite this not being properly disclosed from the beginning. Very disappointing experience. Promotions should be transparent, fair, and honour what was originally communicated to consumers.
