Defective “VW MasterCar Certified” Vehicle Sold by Motus VW Fourways –
Defective “VW MasterCar Certified” Vehicle Sold by Motus VW Fourways – No Resolution Received, I purchased a 2021 Volkswagen Polo Vivo 1.6 Comfortline (Reg: ***x) from Motus VW Fourways on 22 April 2026 and paid cash in full. The vehicle was advertised and sold to me as a “VW MasterCar Certified” vehicle, which gave me confidence that it had passed proper inspections and was free from major defects or accident damage. Shortly after taking delivery on 25 April 2026, I discovered multiple signs that the vehicle had previously been involved in an accident and repaired — something that was never disclosed to me before the sale. The defects include: • Repaired/replaced left rear door • Misaligned and cracked door hinges • Missing bolts on the rear door lock • Overspray paint marks • Uneven panel gaps and wheel arch repairs • Misaligned interior trim and headlining • Uneven glass beading on both left doors • Cracked front hinge • Distorted front left speaker • Misaligned weather strips These issues clearly indicate prior body repairs and raise concerns about the quality and integrity of the vehicle. In my opinion, this is a direct violation of Sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act. I formally rejected the vehicle, returned it on 04 May 2026, and requested a full refund including associated warranty costs. Despite an online meeting held on 18 May 2026 with the Dealer Principal, Mr Pillay, the matter remains unresolved as the dealer is only willing to repair and replace the vehicle and not refund. I am extremely disappointed that a major dealership operating under the Volkswagen and Motus brands could allegedly sell a previously damaged vehicle as a certified used car without disclosure. I hope this review encourages Motus VW Fourways and Volkswagen South Africa to resolve this matter urgently and transparently. Vekesh Singh
