Active since May 2026
Since January 2026, JobLeads has been deducting R679 per month from my bank account via an unauthorised subscription without my knowledge or consent. I did not sign up for a premium subscription, I did not authorise any charges, and I was never notified of any fees. My email address on the account was never even verified, meaning I could not have received any subscription or renewal notifications. Invoices were not sent to me — they were only visible by logging into the website. I only discovered these unauthorised subscription charges after enabling notifications on my banking app. Upon contacting JobLeads, they acknowledged the charges but refused to issue a full refund, offering only 50% of the most recent month as a "goodwill gesture." Their own Terms and Conditions require a contract confirmation email to be sent to customers — which I never received. Despite pointing this out, they maintained their position. I have now escalated this matter to ABSA to dispute the charges as unauthorised, and have lodged a formal complaint with the National Consumer Commission for potential violations of the Consumer Protection Act. I would caution any South African consumer to be extremely careful when signing up to JobLeads, and to monitor their bank accounts closely for unexpected charges.
