When entertaining friends from Cape Town over the New Year period we were asked where we could go for some fine dining. Lynton Hall no longer do meals & the next best spot recommended to us was Selborne Golf Estate - their restaurant being situated in a upperclass golf est. we thought would automatically assure us of good service.
After booking a quiet table - we were seated slap bang in the center of traffic from the kitchen. Even though we were in plain sight we waited about 10min before we had to REQUEST a waitress to take our drinks order & for menus.
After further delays & 2 different waitresses attending to us we finally received our warm beers & placed our food order. 1.5hrs after we arrived the food had still not arrived with no communication from anyone. We then irately queried the status of our order to be told it would be another 10-15min. After 15 min we asked for the manager - who informed us that the rack of lamb we ordered almost 2 hrs ago was out of stock!!!! We were APPALLED!! We were offered Crayfish at the same price of nearly R200/dish - No comp meals were offered. We got up and walked out hungry at 10pm - NEVER to return!
