I attempted to check in at the lodge. The desk staff needed to perform an electronic transaction to effect payment. The telephone lines were down. The POS device indicated that the staff was to contact the bank's authorization centre. I invited them to go ahead, assuring them that there were more than sufficient funds in the account. They did not do this, but attempted the same transaction again. This failed as well. They then tried the same on another terminal, with the same result. I was then queried as to the availability oi another card, alternatively to go to an ATM to draw cash. I queried the lack of action regarding contacting the bank's authorization. The answer was that there was not enough airtime left on the mobile duty phone to perform that service.<br> The net effect was that the other clientele witnessing this event were left with the impression that I did not have the funds necessary, which is EXTREMELY insulting and embarrassing. I left and found alternate accommodation. Sharon undertook to contact me the next working day, which also did not occur. I received an apology SMS 2 days later. Never again will I associate with that institution, nor recommend it.
I ordered hardware from the supplier and performed an EFT on Thursday morning 11/6/2015 at around 07h45. I needed the delivery that same day, as I had a shipment of concrete arriving the following morning. The payment integrity was rejected by Magnum, despite sending them the proof of transfer as per my bank (Absa). They insisted that delivery would only be performed when payment was reflected on their account. The fact that I was transferring from Absa (my bank) to Standard Bank (theirs) was of no relevance. Understand that I could not delay the concrete delivery, and this was communicated to Magnum. Despite my repeated telephonic communication with them, they refused to deliver, forcing me to cut away from work to perform a credit card transaction at their premises, in effect paying for the same product twice. Both transactions have gone thru my bank accounts and to date, despite their promises to refund one of them by Saturday 13/6, I am yet to see that refund.<br> Sum total of the experience, I will NEVER again deal with that company, and will at every opportunity inform whomever is prepared to listen, that that is one company should NEVER be engaged with.
