I installed an after-market air-conditioner from this company two years ago at a cost of R9800, and hardly used it at all over the period of time. My estimate is that I have used it for about 150-hrs. The unit started giving problems after 11 months when the drive belt started slipping from time to time. Tensioning it did not resolve the problem, as I did not realize at the time that the compressor were busy seizing . The compressor seized after 24 months and when I approached the company's HQ a promise by the MD, Mr Sivesh Naidu, to reduce the cost of the replacement unit, R5000 (excluding installation), actually resulted in a higher quote for the compressor than I got from their Johannesburg branch before I approached him. I contacted Mr Naidu again to question this, whereby he asked me what I would like to pay. I responded that at best I would be prepared to pay for the installation cost at one of his installers for the amount of R1200. He went silent and underground after that. Mr Naidu blamed the suppliers of the compressor for the poor quality of the product that are included in their sales package, as they do not build the compressors themselves. They add it in with components they supply. He does not take ownership of the poor quality product he sold! I wrote two emails to his sales manager who provided the quote since Mr Naidu no longer answered my calls or replied to my SMS's . All my calls and emails have remained unanswered to date. I feel it is totally unjust to expect a client to pay another R6200 for a repair on a product that should give no problems, and that Mr Naidu should take responsibility.
A year ago I wrote a complaint about my unreliable Breitling Super Avenger watch on this site.

In short: after several calls and emails (still have record of it) the after sales manager , Mari Ludick of Breitling SA eventually quoted me between R2000 to R5500 to service the watch depending what is wrong with it.

I found this to be exorbitant as I was informed that the watch needs to be serviced every couple of years (at what future cost?)

If I knew at the time of purchase this is the case I would never have bought this watch. I now have a R70 000 white elephant gathering dust in a drawer as it is totally useless as a time piece.

I have a R200 plastic watch that keeps better time and is older than than the Breitling.

DISGUSTING! To say the least!!

Edward Gray
