C-54807011 My Saga with ABSA Continues Today, on 8 July 2025, I have finally received from ABSA the required documents, i.e. the Loan Agreement and a document called ABSA Flexi-Reserve-Facility (dated December 2024). Also, I would like to make it clear that the monthly instalment never decreased when I was depositing extra money into the very same Flexi Reserve, which was to be expected. Whoever came up with a policy to penalise users of Flexi Reserve when they withdrew their own excess money from their bond account has exposed many unsuspecting ABSA clients to an ordeal of being penalised for using their own excess money. I feel ****** and pushed in the corner as, all of a sudden, one party changes the terms and conditions of a policy/agreement to the detriment of the paying party and without informing the other party. My monthly instalment has increased so much that I have to withdraw more from the Flexi reserve so that I can pay the INCREASED instalment. This is a vicious circle into which I was pushed without even being informed about it. I do not know if any other banks do this, but I would like to warn the public about ABSA not honouring the original agreements with their long-standing clients. NB. I have the cited documents available to prove the above.
In 2012 I obtained a home loan from ABSA. Since the day of procurement, the interest rate has been fluctuating (up and down) and although I was withdrawing money from my Flexi Reserve, I never noticed the change in the monthly instalment, except when the rate changed. However, I have noticed lately that my monthly instalment has kept increasing in spite of the interest rate being decreased. The bank’s explanation for the increase in the monthly instalment is that I withdrew money from my flexi portion. In the previous years I had occasionally withdrawn extra money that I kept putting in my home loan account and there were no penalties for this. Now, though, ABSA penalises me for withdrawing my own reserve money. They tried to explain this to me, but the explanation was very vague, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. This “penalty” for withdrawing money from my extra funds on the bond account is something new and unusual, and I have neither been notified of it nor forewarned that this would be happening. Now I am in a ‘quick sand’ situation since in order to add an extra amount because of the increase of the instalment, I will have to withdraw money from my flexi. The more I withdraw, the higher the instalment is. I had kept this extra money for the “rainy day”. Everything was just fine until, roughly, the days when the interest rate started going down again. The most frustrating is the way ABSA explains this issue: they said nothing substantial as to why the monthly instalment is affected if I withdraw from my flexi reserve. Had I known this was the case, I would have put my extra money into another account and I would not have been penalised for withdrawing the extra money I have on my bond account. Perhaps I am wrong, but I currently feel like I am being ****** and that there is nothing I can do about it. To top it all, the bank employee I contacted promised to email me the original Loan Agreement in which, allegedly, I could see “that clause”, but I have not received anything yet.
I would like to share my not so nice experience with the food at the Sakhumzi restaurant, which I visited on the 25th of April 2025. I in fact suffered food poisoning together with another three colleagues who were having lunch with me. While the service was good, and although we had different things on our menu the result was a nasty food poisoning with all four of us. My colleague Silver, L. had already written his review but I felt like I should also report the similar if not the same experience he an the other two had. The point is not to just complin but also to bring this to attention of the management of the Sakhumzi restaurant in order for them to be more careful with the food served to their patrons. There is also an issue with the Menu which doesn't specify upfront of the flat rate buffet type of serving, there was not menu as such but, rather a vague situation whereby some of the colleagues hadn't understood that they would have to pay a flat rate (value of which is not insignificant). I do hope that the reviews of ours would help the management improve the food and operations quality.
I would like to register this complaint related to the UNIKA's fundraisers (and the concert of the Brendon Peyper en die Piensangskille band ) which created unbearable noise in the Robindale area. The noise started at 7:30 AM (Saturday the11th of May 2024) and stopped somewhere towards 22:00. I tried to talk to them, went to the school, politely asked just for a few decibels to be lowered but didn't get any response. When I tried to complain on their Facebook page, the reaction was very hostile, as if I had poked a hornet nest. Therefore, I don't have too much of a choice but to review them on your site in the hope of gaining some result. I even contacted the local ward councilor, asking her to intervene but she she ignored me. To make this experience even more unpleasant, one of the ladies who reacted to my complaint on their FB page even told me to move if I didn't like the noise. This situation, where one must not complain if feeling affected by somebody's action, leaves me with a feeling of being harassed, frankly. I want to know if schools are allowed to host concerts of this level of noise, and if the schools are allowed to create a 12-13 hours noise pollution? May I refer us all to the "Prohibition of. Noise Nuisance 9: "No person shall(a) • operate . or play, . or,· allow . to be. operated . or played, a radio, . television . set, .. drum, . musical · instrument, sound amplifier, loudspeaker system or similar device producing, reproducing or amplifying sound so as to cause a noise nuisance; " from the Noise Control Regulations of 1999. Gauteng Province." I've got the whole document but you don't have the "attachment" button here. My point is that what Unika School did yesterday was unacceptable and the rection of some individuals to my complaint was completely unacceptable. Hoping to be heard out.
