Absolutely worst customer service ever. I have being trying to cancel my contract for 6 months now. You can't cancel in store and you have to wait 45mins to get through to the 'retentions' department that's if the call doesn't cut after 20mins of being on hold. Once you get through they give you a cancelation fee to pay and you MUST then call back! The agent told me if I send an email its unlikely to be actioned so he "recommends calling back" because they are "just so busy". Really MTN? Surely such a large company should have better systems in place with all the technology available -4IR anyone?
I have been with Standard Bank for more than 20 years and I am truly shocked at the way my my matter was handled as well as the level of service I have received from Prestige banking, the Chilli Lane and Bayside mall branches. I first requested for my Cheque account and savings account to be closed in December 2017, via the Prestige banking contact centre, to which I received no actioned response. There was also no effort to retain my account instead I was told "It would be my pleasure to refer your mail to our account closure department who are fully equiped to assist and advise accordingly". I was not even contacted by my Relationship Manager, Faith Nxumalo. Fast forward almost 9 months, multiple emails, 3 visits to the Standard Bank branches, almost R2000 in bank fees, and interactions with incompetent staff like Laylah Chalken and Dayaan Julie who take weeks to responds to emails my account has eventually been closed. Thanks for nothing Standard Bank Prestige, here I come RMB!
