ROTTEN builders
Scarcely THREE years later, an ENDLESS stream of problems, NOW THE ROOF HAS TO BE ENTIRELY ST********** AND REDONE!!!! Poorest of quality materials and such bad workmanship. Unbelievable! This is NOT what we agreed or what I PAID FOR! I can't think of enough curse words and epithets to name you and your workers. How do you sleep at night GRANT STRAUSS? SUCH a ***** and a *****. I hope your bad deeds catch up to you and bring you and your workers right down to feel the pain of what you have done here to me!

MORE problems from their build
The problems with this build and the financial duress to get them repaired have not ended! Cottage was built just 3 years ago. Roof has rusted holes the size of plates, sheets so poorly laid that all the overlaps are giving trouble. Grant Strauss, how do you sleep at night ripping people off like this!! This is NOT fair. I have to entirely replace that roof, just 3 years old! Not only did he take my money and not complete the job, the workmanship is a MESS!!

VERY BAD WORKMANSHIP
There should be an option for NO STARS! Scarcely three years later the roof is full of roles: poor quality roofsheets and really badly laid, rusting badly. Instead of using long sheets its all patched!!!!!!!! Sewerage smells inside - levels of outlet pipes all wrong - pipes running UNDER cottage. Showertrap so badly installed, have to pull it out and redo!!! If only i could post pics to denonstrate just HOW bad this is. Grant Strauss you flipping *****!!

I have been with Naked Insurance for 4 years now
I have been with Naked Insurance for 4 years now. Car, buildings and home-contents insured with Naked. Their premiums are still the lowest in the market and their service is top-notch! A claim for a fender-bender was dealt with promptly and hassle-free. All queries and changes to policies (eg new solar) responded to immediately and effectively. These people are the best. Highly recommend!

Sneaky build ******!
Built just over two years ago, now the showerdrain problems, tiles coming off, damp everywhere. No seals on the drain trap!!! When opened up was surrounded by a plastic bag!!! No support from builder.

Poor workmanship, Grant Strauss and Kaelyn Building
After barely 2 years the cottage built by Grant Strauss and Kaelyn Building projects has a leaking roof and damp in the walls. Not only did he run off with my money and leave the project incomplete, now the poor workmanship is causing problems. Employ this man at your peril!

Kaelyn Building Projects, Bad workmanship, dishonest builder
Grant Strauss lied to me throughout the building of my cottage. He used my money to pay the bank who had attached HIS house, then could not finish my cottage, The building slowed right down and eventually he abandoned site when I had enough of the nonsense. The workmanship is atrocious. Not only am I paying interest on the bond for my money that he used for his own purposes but it is going to cost me at least another 60g to finish and repair the bad workmanship. He never delivered any of the certificates required by the building regulations either! Use this builder and his crew at your peril. Dishonest Builder, Poor workmanship.
I save for YEARS! Then a friend builds a cottage, it looks good and she reckons the builder is reliable. He is a nice man, Grant Strauss, has great people skills. Easy to trust. I contract him to build my cottage. They start, there is a questionable thing that happens on the foundation under the bay window, they threw it too wide, then when they come to build up the wall to get to the slab height, they realise its in the wrong place; but they don't do the same as the rest and cure it, they do something and straightaway build. When asked, the builder says, no we just made a drier mix there, is good, can build straightaway. I worry, but heck what do I know. They continue. The neighbour asks how long, Grant says we be done end of April, I tell the neighbour give it to mid-May, always takes longer. Every day I walk there. Hey! You are going to clean the cement out of the cavities right? Of course don't worry. Then its closed and I wonder, did they? May rolls past. The insulation flaps in the wind for days before they put the roof sheets on. Goes all crumply and skew. Then into June. There isn't that much rain, they maybe call off work for two days at most. The work starts to go REALLY Slowly. Builders get here later every day. His main bakkie threw a gearbox he says, now he only has one, so it takes longer to round everyone up to get here to the southern suburbs from Kraaifontein and DuNoon.... Keeps asking for building draws, says things like, oh we need this 45g so that one crew can build the verandah, while the other tiles. I still trust him, have a great relationship - he has the great people skills remember. But they don't. Still only one crew.... I start worrying, lying awake at night, what! Actually I have overpaid way too much, he owes me about 240g worth of work according to the contracts and schedule, but I only owe him 70g in cash now. I worry some more, but he promises hey, I am never going to let you down. I believe him. But still wake up at 3am and worry.... The work goes slower and slower... Every week he promises, one more week. The builder's work 4 hours a day max. No supervision! Never has been any. Workmanship gets more questionable by the day.... I lose it one day, what the heck, end of April my foot. WHAT is going on! It looks like he feels bad, looks almost tearful. At the end of the day he comes and tells a tragic story about how during Covid, actually he didn't work as he said before, but nearly lost his house, had to make agreements with the bank. Then someone didn't pay him on time two months ago and the bank attached his house. So he used my money to pay the bank and now he's having to raise it elsewhere. But don't worry he has a plan and the money is coming in, just have to be a bit patient. It will be done before the end of July! Another deadline missed, still so much to do. He contracts out the driveway paving. I ask him but who are these people, he swears by them, knows their work... Two days later the edges start disintegrating, I see the inbetween grouting is also not holding and the brickwork is far apart. Too much sand, not properly mixed. O no. He promises, no worry we'll fix it. Easy peasy, a morning's work. What do I know. I want to believe him, he's such a nice fellow, and seems so honest and trustworthy. Keeps re-assuring me, I will never let you down he says, looking me straight in the eye. They make such a mess of the verandah steps, the expensive balau is very badly laid. No problem he says, we will fix. The curtain rails come loose, the door stopper starts hanging sideways. He brings bad quality security doors, the built-in cupboards are only half done, I have to pay more for the upper part he says suddenly - but 41g down for the cupboards that are already done! What?!! I start to realise he tells me what I want to hear, but he's not keeping to his words. I argue, nono, we agreed cupboards and tiles like my friend's cottage were always part of the spec! Already lost out on the tiles that were not what I wanted! The cupboards you have to complete properly. He agrees then. People are moving in end of July, the day before they move in, he's like oh we need another 15g for the last security door, its panic stations, I still think don't worry he won't let me down, I give him 15 more. Then August rolls around. He is still sending workers arriving at 11, they work on the gutters, make a complete dog's breakfast. I insist he brings the damn gates, already promised since months and told me 2 weeks before they were at the galvanisers, there is a backlog... They arrive, I see the welding job looks dicey, but they are shiny and new, I think wait, let them just hang them now, its a security risk without, my insurances are null and void until there are gates. 3 days later the rust starts to show, some welds give, others are rough blobs - VERY crudely made. What galvanising???? He asks for more money to come and complete the job. FINALLY I say hell no. Not another cent till its done. Only 15g left from the contract after he got the last 15g out of me in the emergency rush of people moving in and the dwelling part at least needing to be finished! Although I had promised myself I would stop at the last 30g until the job was done... but he already wangled his way around that! Held me to ransom with the threat of unfinished interior and people moving in! He stops coming altogther. Says he must raise money for the diesel to get here! Promises to bring the fencing panels the following week on the Tuesday, will even pick them up on the Saturday and be ready. I wait, he arrives on the Tuesday. No fencing panels. I explode now, what the hell! An argument ensues. He abandons site. Then another week later proceeds to send a reconciliation with trumped up charges no-one ever discussed or agreed to at all! Now I have to lay a charge of theft. Approx 35g of materials still missing. And the estimates from other contractors to rectify and complete run in the region of 60g!! I will NEVER recommend this man. Dishonest. A liar and a thief!! My trust levels are utterly eroded. I am so so sad. My entire life's savings gone and still some borrowed on the bond. I am paying interest on the money I borrowed from the bank to finish building my cottage that he then used to pay off HIS house!! I wonder HOW does he sleep at night....

TERRIBLE service and misuse of monies by Rayno Beyers, PW plumbing
Rayno Beyers from PW plumbing was sent via an insurance claim to repair a leaking geyser. His brother, 17 year old Michael, has supposedly been working with him for years, but has not got a qualification yet, he did all the work. He installed a new geyser, but only later when I moved the furniture I noticed that the pipe against the wall was jutting out at an odd angle. Rayno had meanwhile convinced me to pay him for a solar water setup which also required them to paint the roof, I paid over R11 100 to buy all the parts. Then the excuses began, first it was supposed exposure to covid. One has sympathy but three weeks later he was doing other plumbing jobs, but not mine. Then it was apparently a blown head gasket on his vehicle - which took another three weeks, again he starts doing other plumbing jobs and ignores mine. When I demanded that he come and complete my work, he refused and said he would return the parts and refund my money. Unfortunately I trusted the man, and never saw any invoices! Although I have proof of having paid him and his agreement for doing this work. It is now another month later; I am in process with the courts - he decided unilaterally to pay the money back in drips and drabs a small amount once a week. I did not agree to this, how can he take my money and use it for himself!! Plus the work he did do is unfinished and not well done at all! In an effort to track him down, I discovered that apparently he is starting a new business called Cubix plumbing. BEWARE!
