We ordered two desks from Christo, the owner of Prompt Carpentry, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Ironically, the company name couldn't be further from the truth—it's now three weeks past the due date, and we still have no desks, no refund, and no communication from Christo.
The first desk that did arrive was of abysmal quality. It was constructed from melamine boards that were supposed to be cut by the supplier and then assembled by Prompt Carpentry. However, Christo later revealed that he had entrusted the assembly to one of his employees, and even he admitted that the quality was substandard.
Here’s a summary of the issues:
Misaligned panels: None of the panels lined up properly. Messy wood filler: Large gaps were filled with wood filler, but it was done very poorly. Damaged veneer: The melamine veneer was chipped and damaged in several areas. Unfinished edges: The bottom of the vertical "leg" sections wasn't edged, meaning that any contact with water during floor cleaning would cause the wood to swell, crumble, and eventually rot. Christo promised to rectify the desks himself, but after another week of waiting, we still had no desks and were unable to move into our office. He then agreed to issue a refund so that we could purchase new desks elsewhere. It's been three days since that promise, and we still haven’t received the refund. Worse yet, Christo is now ignoring all our calls and messages.
This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, and I would strongly advise others to avoid doing business with Prompt Carpentry.
