If I could give 0 stars I would. My puppy recently went in for a standard sterilisation at Radiokop animal clinic. After the procedure they phoned me to inform me that while they were busy he went into cardiac arrest but that they managed to resuscitate him. No further detail was given and I was promised a call within the hour to update me. No one phoned.
When I called them I was informed that he is still alive, it is a miracle he made it this far and that they are still working on him. Later that day they phoned to inform me that they could no longer support him and I should come collect him to take to an animal hospital who is better suited to his needs. When I voiced my concern about transporting him I was told not to worry, he is mostly unresponsive but stable enough to transport.
Before bringing him out I was expected to settle the bill, despite the fact that the care needed for him was urgent and that, in my opinion, he should have been moved to specialised care almost immediately.
When they brought him out it was immediately apparent that he was not stable. As the vet placed him in the car, the vet voiced concerns about the placement of his head which seemed odd as I had been told he was mostly unresponsive. The car drive to the animal hospital is about 30 minutes, in this time my puppy had 3 seizures. NO ONE at Radiokop animal clinic bothered to prepare me for the fact that not only had he gone into cardiac arrest he had also gone into neurological arrest.
Their delay in having him transferred likely exacerbated his condition. Right now he has been in ICU for 2 days and is still critical. The financial implications of this are huge, but the emotional implications are even greater. Do not use this vet, they did not give me all the information in a critical moment, they delayed and wasted time getting my puppy the care that he needed and no one has even bothered to follow up to find out if he is ok. Their reception staff are very friendly, but I have yet to be there where someone wasn't crying because they lost their pet. Initially I suspected this is just because they are so busy, but now I understand that this is because they do not give you all the information that you need to make informed decisions regarding your pets care and they waste valuable time when THEY ARE NOT SPECIALISTS.
