Rakuten
Based on recent customer reviews, Rakuten is overwhelmingly described by South African consumers as a fraudulent operation rather than a legitimate retail platform. A recurring theme is customers being recruited via WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram with promises of online earnings and daily salaries, only to be pressured into repeated deposits to unlock withdrawals that never materialise. Customers consistently mention named representatives, task based schemes, and significant personal financial losses. Many reviewers warn others to steer clear and report involvement of their banks and fraud departments.

We were ****med. Paid and paid and paid. When it came time to withdrawing funds earned after tasks, was told so many excuses and to recharge more. Well we contacted our bank and ***** department. Need to get word out on this company so more people don't fall for this.

This is a ****. They have an advert on Instagram & Facebook telling you how you can earn. They then prompt you to message them on WhatsApp, “Nicole’s assistant asks you to tell you about yourself”. After that they give you account details and logins to do about 10 tasks. After completing those tasks you are told you will get R100 for completing “training” . They tell you that they have added R10 500.00 to the account. Then after the completion of tasks you are asked to help withdraw the money. Then send you the steps to withdraw that amount along with a password, and it goes into Nicole’s Capitec account. Thereafter you’re told to message Nicole on Telegram to get your salary of R100 and they give you a code to give her. Nicole tells you to create and account on this website (Rakuten) , so that you can start earning R500 daily. You will need to link your bank card and send her a screenshot of your “online store” to get this R100. Thereafter you suppose to do tasks and add money to withdraw your “Comission shown in this store” . You never ever get paid. You just keep adding money that they will take and you will never get back.
