I'm writing to express extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with the handling of my query submitted in August 2025. Despite waiting six months, I've received no feedback for six months after I send mails after mail for Rand Water Legal department for resolution and assistance.
The issue concerns permission granted to my neighbour to fence off the Rand Water servitude, restricting my and other neighbours access to the water line and shut-off valve. This has led to a R70,000 water bill due to a broken line caused by that neighbour worker that damage my water line, which I attribute to lack of maintenance access. I've been without water since August 2025.
My question is: How can Rand Water allow a landowner to fence off the servitude, preventing other landowners from accessing their water lines and shut-off valves for regular inspections and maintenance? This has resulted in significant financial loss and hardship for me, a loyal customer who pays bills on time.
I find it unacceptable that Rand Water and my neighbor have ignored my efforts to resolve this issue for six months. The lack of response and water supply is inhumane.
I request: - Urgent escalation to a senior Rand Water official - Clear explanation of the permission granted to my neighbor - Resolution of my water supply issue - Waiver of the R70,000 water bill
