Before I get into the terrible experience we had at this establishment, I would just like to inform anyone reading this about how rude, patronising and threatening the manager is. According to Cathy, bad reviews mean nothing to them as guests like to make up stories and compound a bunch of small issues to make their experience seem legitimate. Not only does Cathy view guests as problems, she also threatens to discredit their negative reviews with one of her own. Please notice how the guests are always the problem according to management in all of their replies but yet the only common denominator in all those reviews is management. Oh and Cathy, if you're reading this (I know you are), I can't wait to see what you'll respond to this to discredit me as you can't use your usual favourites of "personality issues" (you would be the culprit there) and "being drunk" (we left before we got the free bottle of wine you promised).
So to start off, the first issue was the power being off. That is not ReUnion's fault but the lack of communication and lies from staff definitely was. When we arrived, there was no electricity and we were told that it was load shedding. We left the establishment to go have dinner and were gone for almost 4 hours. When we returned, the power was still off so we went to find a staff member and they only then told us it was a power outage. We found out on twitter by other residents that the power had gone off at 2 am on Thursday, 20 March 2025. We checked in at 6 pm on Thursday 20 March 2025. That is 14 hours after the power had gone off. At no point were we informed of this outage. The back up power in the building with our room did not work once while we were there.
Before leaving for breakfast, we made the bed and found that a ****roach had slept in the bed with us all night. I guess we didn't see it due to the lack of electricity and back up power.
We placed our breakfast order the night before as per the rules and requested toast. At breakfast, we sat awkwardly for 10-15 minutes before we saw a staff member and then requested coffee. Our food arrived ice cold with no toast as all of sudden it was no longer possible. Only about 30 minutes after asking for coffee, did we receive it and it was served with quite a bit of attitude.
After returning from our activities for the day, the power was still out so we went to the office to ask about back up power in our building and was told that it was broken and they were waiting for a repair man. This is a completely different story as to the one given by Cathy, who claims that it was just depleted even with full sun shine for the solar panels to charge the batteries and it not being switched on for even a minute and therefore, guests not being able to use it all up. At this point, we were fed up and spoke to the staff that were of no assistance on the matter. We attempted to phone Cathy 5 times but she did not answer. She would only respond to WhatsApp messages. We felt defeated and started packing our bags when the power returned so we decided to unpack and suffer through the rest of our booking but then not even an hour later, the power was off again. That was the nail in the coffin for us and so we packed up, gave our keys in at the office and left for good.
For anyone wanting to stay at this establishment, I really pray for your mental well being as Cathy and all the anguish you'll go through will destroy your sanity.
