If i could give minus one star, that would be a compliment. Zero customer service from management at all. Lets start from the beginning. Harties suffered from some sort of cable theft at 2am Thursday morning the 20th March 2025 (we only learned this after the fact). We left JHB for Reunion Vacations around 5pm and arrived at 6:30ish pm. To our lovely surprise we rocked up to no power being told its loadshedding, fair enough thats part of South African life, so we checked in and went out for dinner and returned plus minus 3 hours later to a dark house again. Cool, maybe loadshedding "is bietjie lank".We quickly went to the office to ask how long will loadshedding be on for, and we got told that it is a power outage.Very frustrated with no power possibility that night, we went back to the room, i then found out via Facebook that the power will only be restored the following day. (Funny how one moment its Loadshedding and the next its power outage, only to find out later that same noght that Harties had been without power since 2am that morning) We placed our orders for breakfast before we left for dinner as per the staff's instructions, we woke up the next morning to find a ****roach in our bed. After naming him Frikkie and getting him out of the room, we went and sat down at the table for breakfast around 8:30 to the sight of no staff at all. Our food eventually arrived which was cold, obviously made first thing in the morning and left out till we rocked up for breakfast. I asked for coffe before our food came, we got said coffee, very rudely might i add, 30mins after our food arrived. After a refreshing cold breakfast, We went out for the day, hoping that the power would be back by the time we return, fast track to probably 1-2pm, still no power. Neeeee now its cable theft and no longer loadshedding and eskom is fixing it, so we have to sit in the room and hope that our pet ****roach returns to play with us as we had no other form of entertainment. I then went and complained at the office cause this has now almost been 24h of no power, our phones, iPads and laptops are dying and i mean you clearly state "backup power" and you can see the solar panels on the roof, so what gives? I asked what's going on, is there any feedback on the power being restored, the only response is "we don't know" while the reception area (house one) has a tv on, all lights on, clearly on backup power. We went and demanded to speak to the manager, we were directed to the number on the brochure, phoned 5 times with no answer. After telling the staff we want our deposit back, we will be checking out early, went back to the room to pack, while packing the power comes back on, only for an hour after which we were left back in the dark. After that we went and demanded our deposit back, the staff did a room inspection "in the dark i might add we packed the car and left. We requested a refund with the manager via WhatsApp, obviously explaining why we feel the need for a refund even though no refunds are clearly stated. The suggestion from the manager was that we come back another weekend cause a refund will not be possible. Now please tell me, why would we wanna go back to cold breakfast, rude staff and the possibility of no backup power in the case of loadshedding. The only reasonable explanation for our return would be to check up on poor old Frikkie whom we had left behind. Please keep an eye out for my Fiancé's full indepth review as she directly dealt with the manager of this fine establishment. (My review is purely a summary of our 24hr long weekend getaway) Yours truly Frikkie's Adoptive Father I would just like to add that i know its not their fault for harties power being off, but notice would have been nice, even for us to make sure our powerbanks are fully charges etc or to reschedule. And good customer service could ensure future bookings, but sorry neh, dont think so after this review.

Before I get into the terrible experience we had at this establishment, I would just like to inform anyone reading this about how rude, patronising and threatening the manager is. According to Cathy, bad reviews mean nothing to them as guests like to make up stories and compound a bunch of small issues to make their experience seem legitimate. Not only does Cathy view guests as problems, she also threatens to discredit their negative reviews with one of her own. Please notice how the guests are always the problem according to management in all of their replies but yet the only common denominator in all those reviews is management. Oh and Cathy, if you're reading this (I know you are), I can't wait to see what you'll respond to this to discredit me as you can't use your usual favourites of "personality issues" (you would be the culprit there) and "being drunk" (we left before we got the free bottle of wine you promised). So to start off, the first issue was the power being off. That is not ReUnion's fault but the lack of communication and lies from staff definitely was. When we arrived, there was no electricity and we were told that it was load shedding. We left the establishment to go have dinner and were gone for almost 4 hours. When we returned, the power was still off so we went to find a staff member and they only then told us it was a power outage. We found out on twitter by other residents that the power had gone off at 2 am on Thursday, 20 March 2025. We checked in at 6 pm on Thursday 20 March 2025. That is 14 hours after the power had gone off. At no point were we informed of this outage. The back up power in the building with our room did not work once while we were there. Before leaving for breakfast, we made the bed and found that a ****roach had slept in the bed with us all night. I guess we didn't see it due to the lack of electricity and back up power. We placed our breakfast order the night before as per the rules and requested toast. At breakfast, we sat awkwardly for 10-15 minutes before we saw a staff member and then requested coffee. Our food arrived ice cold with no toast as all of sudden it was no longer possible. Only about 30 minutes after asking for coffee, did we receive it and it was served with quite a bit of attitude. After returning from our activities for the day, the power was still out so we went to the office to ask about back up power in our building and was told that it was broken and they were waiting for a repair man. This is a completely different story as to the one given by Cathy, who claims that it was just depleted even with full sun shine for the solar panels to charge the batteries and it not being switched on for even a minute and therefore, guests not being able to use it all up. At this point, we were fed up and spoke to the staff that were of no assistance on the matter. We attempted to phone Cathy 5 times but she did not answer. She would only respond to WhatsApp messages. We felt defeated and started packing our bags when the power returned so we decided to unpack and suffer through the rest of our booking but then not even an hour later, the power was off again. That was the nail in the coffin for us and so we packed up, gave our keys in at the office and left for good. For anyone wanting to stay at this establishment, I really pray for your mental well being as Cathy and all the anguish you'll go through will destroy your sanity.

The Service, the ****** service is so poor and extremely unprofessional I'm talking from the time you walk in the reception area nobody cares they busy dragging their feet and continuing with whatever they were doing and only then attend to you. Oh yes and by the time they do attend to you, you are then told oh no by the way you must pay a CASH DEPOSIT of R500 for security. Who carries cash nowadays and also why the hell am I NOT told about this before hand instead of driving all the way and only to be told to drive out again to get the ****** cash. Oh NOOOO that's not all, when l contacted the owner to tell her about this inconvenience she chased us out and asked us to leave her establishment HOW ******, RUDE And UNPROFESSIONAL is that????

The staff were very rude. I enquired about the R500 deposit I was required to pay at check in and I did not have cash on hand, they were so rude and they referred me to the bookings manager by the name of Cathy who proceeded to say “We do not need you, in fact you may request your refund and leave”. It was shocking service to say the least. They only want cash on the deposit, we ended up having to drive to look for an ATM.

On the day I was preparing to leave for the staycation I was called in the afternoon to be informed that my booking is not appearing on their system. Was therefore given two options to either get a refund of my deposit or choose another date for the staycation and I chose the refund option. Today marks an entire week with poor communication from the manager with regards to my refund and empty promises of when my refund will be deposited into my account. The customer service is so appalling and very much disappointing! Yho! 😮💨😭
