I would advise anyone considering buying property from Renico to think twice and do a thorough investigation before making a commitment.
I purchased a newly built home from Renico with the expectation that, as a new development, basic quality standards would be met. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience. Since moving in, I’ve had to report a long list of issues—some minor, but many quite serious—including:
A loose brick on the front stoep
Discoloration on the exterior walls
Missing bricks and covers in the parking area
Multiple holes in the back wall
Nails sticking out of the walls (posing a real safety hazard)
A brick inserted without cement
Floor tiles still covered in glue
A shower not sealed with silicone
Missing lightbulbs in rooms
Cement left in the drainage system, which caused flooding when I did my first load of laundry
It has now been over a month, and while a few minor issues were resolved, the more significant problems remain outstanding. I’ve had to follow up daily with contractors, many of whom no longer respond to calls or messages. Some of the responses I've received include vague excuses like, “bricks are still being made,” with no timelines or accountability.
What’s most frustrating is the lack of communication and urgency from contractors and the overall poor coordination. I often need to make myself available during weekday afternoons to accommodate their limited working hours—yet there’s still no progress on major repairs. And no one works on weekends.
For a company like Renico, I expected better quality control and customer care. It seems little to no quality assurance was done before handover, and it’s clear some contractors rushed the job and have since washed their hands of responsibility.
To their credit, a few contractors have shown professionalism and responded promptly—but unfortunately, they are the exception, not the rule.
If you are considering buying from Renico, I urge you to inspect everything thoroughly and ensure that every promise is documented and followed through. A brand-new house should not come with this level of stress and unresolved defects.
