On 21 November 2024, I signed a finance agreement for a 2014 Golf MK7 R through Absa Vehicle Finance with Riffle Range Car Sales. However, I was only allowed to collect the car on 29 November 2024 as the dealership claimed they needed to “resolve outstanding issues.”
From the first week of driving, it became clear these issues were never resolved. The car has had serious mechanical faults, including:
Rattling sounds & dashboard error messages after collection.
Engine warning light activation after a trip to KZN (vehicle was then held in their workshop for over a month).
Blue smoke from the engine, raising concerns about engine damage.
Multiple breakdowns despite repeated “repair attempts.”
When I requested a professional diagnostic at Volkswagen, the dealership refused to cover the cost and insisted on using cheaper alternative service providers — which is unacceptable for a vehicle in this condition.
I no longer wish to keep this vehicle. I have lodged a complaint with Absa Vehicle Finance (Ref: C-52460122) and await their investigation.
I demand:
A clear process for returning the vehicle & cancelling the sale.
Confirmation on whether a replacement vehicle or full refund will be provided.
A timeline for resolution.
This has caused ongoing frustration, inconvenience, and financial strain. I expect urgent and transparent action from Riffle Range.
