They dont even deserve 1 star! My 16 year old daughter was admitted to the hospital and they did tests that they never discusses with us and up until now never got a call from a Doctor or nurse because they only allow us to come visiting hours and my daughter has to explain what she thinks they did or the tests they had done.

I was admitted to Rondebosch Medical Centre on the 01/04/2025 - 04/04/2025. My Gynecologist, referred me to the Physicians, Dr Pandy and Team who is no refusing to give all my results because I left the hospital on the 04/04/2025. 1. Please note my medical aid had paid for all the tests that was done. 2. I left because there was no clear communication from the Physicians at Rondebosch Medical Centre as to the way forward 3. The 02/04/2025 they did absolutely nothing. A day that was wasted. 4. I have a career. I am not able to just stay in a hospital indefinitely Now the Physicians, Dr Pandy, Dr Crowster and Team are refusing to give/ email all my results from 01/04/2025 - 04/04/2025, dates inclusive.

My experience at Rondebosch Medical Centre on June 18, 2025, for a colonoscopy was not just disappointing; it was deeply traumatic and frankly, negligent. What should have been a standard procedure turned into a series of alarming failures, raising serious questions about patient care and safety at this facility. The ordeal began right at admission (7:40 AM): The admin staff didn't know my co-payment fee – I had to tell them. I was made to write down my details, and despite my clear handwriting of "Lakeside" for my address, it was incorrectly captured as "Wakeside," an address that doesn't even exist in South Africa. No one bothered to confirm or check. This immediate disorganization was a red flag. Moving to the ward, the issues continued: My bed wasn't made upon arrival. There was no proper hospital gown (vest) available. For about an hour, maintenance staff were constantly walking through our shared ward space (where another patient and I waited), to assess non-working bed plugs in an attached private room. This felt incredibly intrusive and undermined any sense of privacy or calm. The pre-operative care was critically flawed: At 9:00 AM, during a standard pre-op assessment, my blood glucose was found to be a dangerously low 3.2. I felt distinctly unwell because of this. Shockingly, absolutely no action was taken by staff – no glucose given, no drip administered, no attempt to stabilize me. To make matters worse, from 6:00 AM until I was finally taken for my procedure at 2:00 PM (8 hours later!), I received no sips of water, no drip, no hydration, nothing. This prolonged fasting, combined with the unaddressed critically low blood sugar, caused significant discomfort and concern. I then waited an additional 40 minutes in the pre-op area, watching two or three other patients arrive, get prepared, and go in for their procedures before me. This further highlighted the unexplained delay and contributed to my anxiety. Then, the unthinkable happened during the procedure: To my utter horror, I woke up during the surgery. This terrifying moment of consciousness during a medical procedure is absolutely unacceptable and indicative of a severe failure in anesthesia management and patient care. Post-procedure care was equally appalling: Back in my room, I experienced severe cramping and was visibly crying due to the pain, which could have been exacerbated by the preceding low blood sugar and prolonged fasting. The response from staff was a dismissive "we might give you something later," and no immediate action was taken. No one ever returned to check on me or offer comfort or relief. I desperately needed to use the bathroom, but my nurse calling button didn't work. Due to my already low blood sugar and the lingering effects of the anesthetic, I was unable to get help in time and ended up soiling myself. The humiliation and struggle to then help myself to the bathroom were devastating. Even discharge was a mess of incorrect documentation: My discharge form had no time recorded on it. It falsely stated I was "leaving by wheelchair," when I actually walked out. The form also included generic advice to "take medication as prescribed," despite the fact that no prescription was given, and no medication was provided at all. The cumulative effect of this entire day at Rondebosch Medical Centre, from administrative errors and an intrusive environment to critical medical neglect, waking during surgery, and a complete lack of compassionate post-operative care, has left me profoundly distressed and impacted. My well-being was fundamentally disregarded at every turn. I urge Rondebosch Medical Centre to thoroughly investigate these severe failures. This isn't just about a bad day; it's about systemic issues that put patient safety and dignity at risk. No one should have to endure such a neglectful and traumatic experience. I hope that by sharing my story, something will be done to prevent this from happening to future patients, and to adequately address the severe consequences I have endured.

This “Private Hospital” honestly gives off public facility ‘Groote Schuur’ vibes. Don’t This “Private Hospital” honestly gives off public facility Groote Schuur vibes. Don’t waste your hard earned expensive medical-aids here. Rather go to Groote Schuur for free treatment, BY THE SAME DOCTORS

If you'd like to experience how a Private hospital would be like if run by Government then give this hospital a shot. Before COVID we had no issues with RMC, the emergency centre was excellent. However during and after COVID it's been a different experience. I wont detail my COVID stay as it was a stressful experience for everyone, but my most recent stay has ensured we won't ever go back. I was rushed to the emergency centre at the end of January for extreme stomach cramps and vomiting. Firstly, there is no "emergency" in their emergency ward. I sat for ages in the waiting room, eventually having to find a side room to vomit into a bin, while the receptionist, very unhurriedly, admitted me. A sour looking woman who moved slower than a sloth in mud. When I was finally admitted into "emergency" I was greeted with all the nurses and the doctor sitting around in the nurse's station talking, with maybe two working. I was put into a side room where I waited so long, I actually walked out again to the nurse's station, to ask if someone would see me (I was weak and shaking from the pain and vomiting). They all just looked at me and I was told a nurse would be by "soon". The nurse who eventually came, had the attitude of someone who clearly didn't want to be there. Only after a second nurse arrived did I finally get some help. I was admitted to the ward, where I had to wait for them to swop out a bed as the one assigned to me wasn't working. I stayed two nights with no bedding changes. I actually watched as the nurse changed the bedding of the two other ladies in my ward, but walked right past me. I'm still not sure why this particular nurse took an instant dislike to me, if it was the colour of my skin (I was the only white lady in the ward) or that I'm a Christian with a Moslem surname. The other ladies were both admitted a few hours before I was. I had to ask for water before any was brought to me. The nursing staff who actually attended to me, and the doctor in the ward were the only saving grace, as I did get good service from them. However, since being home we've had three hospital bills charged to our medical aid savings instead of as a hospital admission, even though we had an authorisation number from the medical aid. This has since caused more stress on our side to get it sorted. We will not be back, and judging from the half empty ward, a lot of others won't be either.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this emergency department. I came in with recurring stomach pain and was initially sent for ultrasounds and a urine test. Afterward, I returned to the emergency room to wait for further instructions, but when I was finally seen, I was simply handed a script and told to get dressed. There was no explanation of what was wrong with me or any guidance on next steps. To make matters worse, the nurse who attended to me, Sister Candice, was unhelpful and dismissive and the Doctor Soloma It’s disheartening to say, but it felt like my concerns weren’t taken seriously, and I was treated poorly. I left the hospital still in pain, without a proper diagnosis or any clarity about my condition. This was a deeply frustrating and upsetting experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone more especially if your a person of color.
