I recently (September 2025) booked at the hotel and requested for an invoice upon checkout, however, I was told I can get it through email. I have reached out to them via email to request for the invoice and my emails are read without any response - it has been weeks without any assistance/response. I called the hotel a day ago asking to talk to the general manager and was told he will contact me back, sadly I am still waiting for the call. I need the invoice for accounting purposes but clearly my simple request is falling on deaf ears. I am extremely disappointed by their customer service!!!

Load-shedding happens at around 11pm. For a 5-star hotel I’d expect generator backup. No, the room was engulfed with pitch black darkness, for the full 2 hours. No flashlight or candle. The wall plug to charge the phone is on the opposite corner of the bed, so now I had to search for my phone in pitch black darkness! Imagine how scary this is! Then there’s no phone signal, no WiFi signal! Who do one call because their bedside phone ain’t working! Extremely disappointed. Then, the food lets a lot to be desired. I was famished at dinner not having eaten the whole day, so I was testing a lot of their food choices at buffet The fish was raw inside, the roast lamb was rather boiled lamb, the vegetables were so much steamed that it became mash, the Greek salad was not fresh, the cake was extremely dry, and when I asked for some ice cream to at least eat the cake I’m told that if it’s not on the buffet table...well bad luck! I woke at 5am and found the TV not working, no answer at reception for a full 30 minutes! Basics are very important, especially if you market yourself as a 5-star hotel! Don’t be fooled. I was impressed when I walked into the hotel lobby and expected perfect service, it’s no use, the service is 0-star!

1 star is even generous it's a zero as I couldn't continue without selecting a star. Made a booking on 02/12 and within 15 minutes cancelled the booking. To my surprise an email confirmation comes and the cancellation fee is at 100% booking fee😡. Contacted them on Saturday spoke to John who told me it's up to the property which is Royal Marang to waive the fee, and that he will send an email to the hotel and come back to me within 48hrs. Until today I have not received an email from John. Contacted Royal Marang on 03/12 spoke to Neo, who told me a different story that booking.com must be the one authorising them. Since then I've been sent from pillar to post by both booking.com and Royal Marang. Yesterday 6/12 spoke to Mohammed from booking.com and Chris the manager at Royal Marang who could not conclude the outcome as Chris is waiting for an email from booking.com and Mohammed from booking.com is waiting for Royal Marang to respond. Meanwhile I am in a panic of loosing R4900. What scam are these service providers playing. Can an email from Germany to RSA take 5 days. Is this how these companies exploit people by putting terms that are not lawful and fair to customers. Where in the hell can a cancellation within 15 minutes be subjected to a 100% penalty. I understand if it's last minute cancellation. After 5 days I have still not received any feedback following numerous escalations... Between Royal Marang and Booking.com is someone going to come back to me....

I had booked a night stay, arrived there at 13:15 of which check in is 14h00 and said please could I just grab the key as I had a wedding 30 mins away at Shepards tree lodge of which they wouldn't allow so I asked if they would let me check in at when the wedding is done at 1am and they said that they would definitely be able to let me check in. I arrived there just after 1am and they had given my room out to someone else so I had to drive back to Johannesburg at 1am in the morning. 1st and last time!

I'm sharing this review with frustration and disappointment of why is that I got charged on my card when I made bookings with them. On the 22nd October I checked in and on my arrival I had used my husband's card to pay as on my account it was still pending and was informed that it will not be an issue to pay on the day i check-in and that won't have any impact on my actual account . However on the 24th November a transaction debited and leaving my account on my account, it then became a duplicate now and I called in at the hotel and a lady at finance told me that the issue isn't with them its with bookings and I asked how so because the description shows "Royal Marang Hotel" not bookings. Im beyond angry because now I paid then twice and I even changed my card but still it debited. I require my money back as I have already reported the matter with the bank. Yall must stop ripping people off and blame bookings.

I'm sharing this review with frustration and disappointment of why is that I got charged on my card when I made bookings with them. On the 22nd October I checked in and on my arrival I had used my husband's card to pay as on my account it was still pending and was informed that it will not be an issue to pay on the day i check-in and that won't have any impact on my actual account . However on the 24th November a transaction debited and leaving my account on my account, it then became a duplicate now and I called in at the hotel and a lady at finance told me that the issue isn't with them its with bookings and I asked how so because the description shows "Royal Marang Hotel" not bookings. Im beyond angry because now I paid then twice and I even changed my card but still it debited. I require my money back as I have already reported the matter with the bank. Made a booking and had to cancel 4 weeks before, the refund I got was disgusting and still waiting for an answer from a email and telephone call that I enquired. I can understand that they take a 10 to 15% cut for cancelation but what you refunded me was not acceptable I'm still waiting for an answer and I will hound you until I get a answer and payment refund back. Bad service for a 5 star hotel.

We made a SIMPLE table reservation a week in advance for my parent's wedding anniversary, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! The booking was not even noted down nor was the table was set up as discussed. A kind lady Rebecca tried to salvage the situation and assist where she could.

There is a rude lady called rebecca who is supposed to be the restaurant manager there which is so indecisive and she does not consider any of the guests concerns and the waitress called karabo who does not care about our concerns as well. They just dismissed us like it wasn’t their fault that we found ourselves in the predicament in the first place....I work with customers myself and I find it utterly disappointing how they treated us...I don’t recommend this hotel after this ordeal. I’m shocked that this kind of rudeness is still turned a blind eye over as to think that we paid money thinking we are coming to relax with family but to our suprise we came to be disrespected and treated like rubbish. Thanks to these two ladies I’m no longer coming back to this hotel or Rustenburg ever again

There is a rude lady called rebecca who is supposed to be the restaurant manager there which is so indecisive and she does not consider any of the guests concerns and the waitress called karabo who does not care about our concerns as well. They just dismissed us like it wasn’t their fault that we found ourselves in the predicament in the first place....I work with customers myself and I find it utterly disappointing how they treated us...I don’t recommend this hotel after this ordeal. I’m shocked that this kind of rudeness is still turned a blind eye over as to think that we paid money thinking we are coming to relax with family but to our suprise we came to be disrespected and treated like rubbish. Thanks to these two ladies I’m no longer coming back to this hotel or Rustenburg ever again
