Unsafe Place
We stayed at this place the weekend of 11–14 September, and what happened to us was terrifying. Around 4:15–4:30 AM, while we were asleep, an unknown man entered our room and stole all of our belongings, including phones, handbags, IDs, bank cards, and licenses. I woke up and saw him still in the room and when I screamed He ran out the door , which to mention was looked prior to us falling asleep. There were three women in that room ,it could have been far worse. We immediately woke the caretaker, who was already awake (strangely), and tried to contact the owner, who was in Mozambique. She said she’d assist in contacting the police this was around 5am but no one showed up for about 3 hours, not even the manager. We were left shocked, scared, and stranded. To make it worse, we found that the window handle was broken, and the door was not secure it could easily open when unlocked . There was no proper security, and no one warned us that safety would be an issue. When we raised this with the owner, she told us that when you book a lodge or guest house, you do so “at your own risk.” Absolutely no help and no accountability. We are still dealing with the trauma and consequences of this experience. I currently have no ID, no license, no bank cards and no support or care from the owner. If you care about your safety, DO NOT book this place. It is completely unsafe and the management is shockingly unhelpful.

You are not safe at Sabores Lodge and Restuarant!
We were book in by a traveling agent from the 11 - 14 September 2025. Around 04:15 on Sunday, one of the ladies I shared to the accommodation with realized that there was a person in our room but did not take note as she thought it was one of us. She then realizes that this particular person had been in our room for a long time. Each time she raised her head to look up, this person will move to hide themselves. It was only when she screamed and asked this person what they were doing that he looked up and fled using the door. It was at that point that we woke up to realized that all our phones were missing, handbags and other valuables. We also realized that both bedroom and bathroom windows were wide opened. The bedroom window did not have a handle. We rushed to wake the "security/ maintenance guy" who woke up full clad with clothes. Due to the language barrier, we could not get the assistance that were required. They then called the owner Chante Meyer who indicated that she was in Mozambique and would call the police to assist us. Subsequently after following up with the owner, the manager and the police came +_ 3 hours later. We requested to view the footage, but we were advised that there was movement at that time. So, our suspicion then is that this was an inside job, and we don't know whom they are protecting. We demanded to see their disclaimer which was not published, more so that we did not sign any documentation on entry.
