Sangiro Chicken caused severe food poisoning etc
I purchased Sangiro Chicken from their Broederstroom farm on 11/3/15. Chicken stored/sold in OPEN plastic bags from a container by Sangiro's gate. I transported in cooler boxes with icepacks to not break coldchain. Cooked some immediately that eve + within 2 hrs we were violently ill - projectile vomiting + diarrhea + feeling terrible. Phoned Sangiro, they said they'd replace the chicken. I insisted I wanted it tested for pathogens + they must come collect + let me know the results which they agreed to. Ill for +- 1 week, went to Dr + took meds etc. Could not work + felt like death warmed up. During this time Sangiro had 101 excuses why they didn't have the chicken tested / test results etc + it was almost impossible to get hold of the person dealing with it (Frik). He acknowledged there was something wrong with chicken + said he'd let us know what the results were. That was 2 months ago: he has now refused point blank to let us know the test results + is ignoring my calls, instead threatening me with legal action if I make this public. He offered to refund all costs however he has ignored my final warning of last week + has obviously reneged on his word now.
