The review below is the truth, based on our experience. I have no desire to lie or discredit anybody unnecessarily.
Set On Tiles - Seton Nel.....nice guy to work with when he came to give a quote and also needed the deposit to start. His original estimation to complete the job was 10 days which I knew was impossible…..I gave him 3-4 weeks. Good thing we only paid 1/3 instead of 50%, giving us some leverage. We supplied all the materials. Once the job started, there were times that his guys didn't even show up to the job for 2 or 3 consecutive days, and hardly communicating to let us know. Consequently the job dragged on for almost 3 months, causing loss of rental revenue. There were times when they arrived 2 – 3 hours later than scheduled because of traffic, issues…..etc etc The wall that they built to install the Geberit toilet has already cracked, the silicon and paint already peeling where the toilet joins the wall. Had to have another contractor in and was told that the bolts attaching the toilet to the wall were loose, consequently every time the toilet was sat on, there was a clunk/movement from the commode, possibly exasperating the crack which appeared in less than 6 months. The answer I got from Mr Nel was that "things dry out over time, walls crack, silicone pulls away from the wall” The silicon in the 2nd bathroom basin also had to be redone. Does this mean that all of those huge multimillion Rand Fresnaye homes, are experiencing the same thing in their bathrooms after 6 months because of “things drying out, walls cracking, silicon separating from the walls”? I find that hard to believe.
When I asked why he didn’t call me after I sent him pics and SMS the previous week about the damages, he hung up on me because he felt I was sarcastic and proceeded to communicate via whatsapp only.
Not easy for him to fix these issues because he's not available - lives in Fish Hoek, the flat is in Sea Point - yes a drive, but if you accept a job, you finish it completely including the snags, because its called customer service. He has offered to fix the issue, but only the following week and my concern is the issue getting worse, so I had someone else fix it immediately.
Like I said….nice guy, but……we are very very disappointed.
