Shell Ultra Management Estcourt, KZN (Northbound) must be about the worst entity to deal with when it comes to public safety, in my view.
A public hazard concern was reported to the Manager and his team on duty early in January 2026. It appeared that they were oblivious to the hazard, yet they worked on the premises. The hazard appeared to be there for a very long time as per the photo's and video footage which I reported and sent to Shell SA. On 29/01/2026 I followed up with an email to see whether the hazard/problem was resolved/fixed and from thereon forward, I had sent subsequent emails and then finally escalating the matter in March 2026.
I received an email from a Mr Thabo Elephant requesting that feedback be provided to me and since then the Manager/Owner a certain Mr Thuthuka Makhanya and/or Mr Myeni at Shell Ultra Estcourt KZN (Northbound) have avoided the issue and failed to respond further on whether the hazard was removed from their premises. It is now May 2026 and no further correspondence or report has been provided - the matter has just gone silent and if I were not a concerned citizen of this country then I would have just given up on this but it is my strong view that people of this caliber do not care about the well-being and safety of SA citizens, all they care about is their business interests. Until I had the escalated the matter, I was ignored and my emails and follow ups went unanswered. It is clear that the Shell SA's platforms for raising public concerns do not work ('generalpublicenquiries-za@shell.com'). I would strongly urge the public to be cautious at Shell Ultra Estcourt KZN (Northbound), as the premises is not safe. I will not use this facility as a stopover between Johannesburg and Durban to ensure the safety of my loved ones!!!
