I bought a car highly priced, and the tyre is now damaged, asked the sales person to sort it out and all of a sudden it is supposed to be my problem now, a brand new car with less than 100km and already I have tyre issues, the car is always in the garage and is charged in the garage, just driven it for less than 200m, in a secured gated community where there is little to none littering, there is absolutely no way the tyre can get damaged from the car always being in the garage, I cannot spend over R8546 for a Michelin tyre while the car is brand new and has less than 100km it's a brand new car and it can't be that the tyre got damaged whilst in the garage, that is highly impossible, and in a gated community the road are well kept and there are hardly no pot holes or obstruction to and road infrastructure, this is utterly a disappointment and it can not be a matter of recklessness or negligence, however the tyre will have to be bought because I can't have a car that has faulty tyres and highly priced, I refuse, BMW SUCKS AND IT WILL REMAIN TO SUCK

SMG ARC Durban is not even worthy of a half star review after the putrid service I received from them On 21/09/2024 my vehicle was towed in to SMG ARC Durban for repairs after my family and I had been through an extremely traumatic incident the night before. My vehicle was there for an entire month under the eye of Ernest, we would get regular updates regarding the progress of work, and made them aware of the deadline when we were to return the rental vehicle provided to us by insurance. The deadline was cut extremely fine wherein I had to be transported via Uber to fetch my vehicle as it was not done in time for a convenient pickup process. Upon taking delivery, multiple issues were noted and I made it clear that I was going to bring the vehicle back for proper repairs to spec. On or around the first week of November I brought the vehicle back for proper repairs and amendments to several areas of what was quite dismal work done on my vehicle, where I was given a courtesy vehicle to use, my vehicle remained with ARC for the better part of yet another month before I was contacted to come through for delivery. Upon taking delivery, yet again I had to request for certain things to be amended on the spot and was told that with any repair there will be waves in the bodywork, furthermore the process used in SMG ARC Durban workshop stripped the paint off of the wheelcaps on my vehicle (this was never sorted and I was told they are aftermarket hence why its not an SMG ARC issue), this being the case, when my wheelcaps were near brand new when my vehicle arrived at ARC. After finally having my vehicle back from repairs that took almost two months to conduct, yet again I had to bring the vehicle back for an amendment to a wire that was sticking out in my side mirror. Thereafter I had to bring the vehicle back a third time for the headlight and bumper that kept coming out of place. My vehicle had recently gone back to SMG ARC Durban for a fourth time following the paint on the bumper that was peeling as well as the bumper corner continuously popping out of place, this was after months of following up from my end since May this year, I was promised a call at the end of August which never happened and eventually had to demand service at the end of September before I was given the time of day. My vehicle came in on or around the first week of October and remained there for just over two weeks where the bumper was resprayed among other things amended, during this time there was an incident which took place unbeknown to me until recent events unfolded. On Monday 28/10/2025, after taking delivery of my vehicle, I contacted Ernest regarding heavy condensation in the fog light that had been replaced during the initial repairs in 2024. Ernest requested that I bring the vehicle in (for the fifth time) to asses what was wrong. Upon my arrival on the 28th Ernest had a look at the light and advised me that it looked to be a blown globe, however this was not the case as the light was still working when switched on. A technician removed the entire fog light fitting on the spot and it was found that someone working on my vehicle had broken the clips that hold the glob in place and attempted a pathetic temporary repair job to the part wherein "soft sealer" or "butyl tape" was used to secure the globe in place which looked fine and fit for use to the naked eye. What the dishonest and ********* person did not take into account was that the butyl tape would melt under the heat of the globe, causing the globe to drop inside of the fog light and melt it away, I was honestly looking at turning a blind eye at this and more importantly at the fact that this could have caused my vehicle to catch fire and burn down, however recent events have led me to this post, and more importantly contacting my insurance aswell as my attorney In light of the multiple times I have been back and forth for my vehicle to be brought back to spec, it is clear that I have been more than accommodating and patient throughout this process and have looked past the inconvenience entirely. One of the main things that were noted when taking delivery of my vehicle for the second time was that the wheel caps were damaged by SMG ARC Durban at some point during the initial repairs (I have pictures of before and after), after deliberation with their Customer Relations Manager Renisha Singh whom has been ignoring my emails until I had to email another manager for attention, the workshop manager Shahid Ally refuses to replace or even compensate me for the caps that were damaged by their establishment. This is the regard that SMG ARC Durban has for the property of others in which they are entrusted with.

⭐ 1-Star Review – SMG Motors Century City My experience with SMG Motors Century City — specifically with Thoza — has been nothing short of pathetic and deeply disappointing. There was absolutely no professionalism, no transparency, and no ethics throughout the process. I attempted to purchase a used BMW 220D and agreed on a price of R480,000. I was initially invoiced R493,000, which was then altered again to R485,000 with no proper explanation. I was also assured that the vehicle still had an active motor plan — this turned out to be completely false. Based on these assurances, I made arrangements to fly from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and the dealership confirmed they would collect me from the airport and provide a loan vehicle. At the last minute, this was suddenly refused. When I asked Thoza why the loan car arrangement was being withdrawn, he became arrogant and rude, showing complete disrespect toward me as a customer. On top of this, I was pressured into paying a R250,000 deposit, which I paid in good faith. After they reneged on the agreed arrangements, I was forced to cancel the deal. Now, I am struggling to get my refund, which they promised would be processed. I contacted the DP, who assured me he would get back to me — yet four days passed with no response. I am still chasing my own money while Thoza continues making empty promises and avoids responding. To make matters worse, I was eventually told that the office is “closed” and they cannot process my refund. This dealership has shown a complete lack of integrity, accountability, and respect for customers. I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with SMG Motors Century City to proceed with extreme caution.

1 /5 is too high. SMG is work hand in hand with BMW Financial Services who claims they are a completely separate entity, but SMG exists to make BMW FS legitimate as BMW FS can only exist if the dealer does. BMW products, including Mini Coopers, that are sold by SMG are owned by BMW FS. And as inextricable partners, they are as embroiled in the dirty underbelly of the high end vehicle industry. After insurance refused twice to pay for a new engine on a brand new Mini Cooper after I knocked the sump and brought the car to a stop with absolutely no possibility of engine damage, SMG, in conjunction with BMW Motorplan, drew up a letter to the insurer further claiming false evidence of engine damage - this, even after a SMG technician admitted in front of a forensic engineer (who had proven manually app**** damage to bearing covers) SMG Dealer Principal, Workshop Manager, and BMW's own HEAD Investigator that he had sandpapered conrod bearing covers used as evidence of engine damage due to 'sand contamination' - a new invention that popped up 4 months after the 'incident' that fast became listed as an 'accident'. My insurance finally pays out R250K - without ONE signature from me. And I am threatened when I question it. And 12 months on... with me never ever being able to get the car back on the road due to absence of any invoice, build sheet, import papers to get police clearance on the apparent new engine - the car is repossessed, due to 'abandonment' by me and reregistered by BMW FS 2 months later with the original engine number. Keep EXPOSING BMW FS and all of their agents without whom they cannot exist. They have absolutely NO regard for consumer rights and law, and they get away with it, because the ombudsman are financed by them and ultimately have no power, especially when Mac Roberts Attorneys, their official legal pitbulls, step in within hours of MIOSA investigators being forced to close a matter. Hand in hand, these entities force ordinary citizens down impossibly expensive legal action, while they get their products into auction houses, and off their books to make it someone else's problem, and ***** over yet another unsuspecting consumer. If there's a loophole, leave it to BMW FS and their attorneys to find it, as they stonewall, bully, and bamboozle South African consumers into financial hell.

WORST car dealer EVER! 1. X7 goes in for an idling issue. Is returned with the issue unsolved and a new issue with the on board computer reporting oil level to high and to stop driving. 2. Goes back to SMG, 8 days later we are informed that they need a part, which will be available in 3 weeks. 3. No Loan vehicle offered (X7 on motorplan) 4. BMW Approves loan vehicle, but then suddenly the vehicle is in the panel beater and not available. Promised a car the following day. 5. Next day NOTHING 6. Phoned in. Phone rings, gets lifted off the hook and then hung up. 7. Phoned back, automated attendant, "you are number 1 in the queue", "you are next", "you are number 2 in the queue" 10 minutes 24 seconds later the call is answered. Put through to the service manager... rings and rings and.... hung up. 8. Phoned back, called answered after 3min 20 seconds. No one available.

It is advisable to avoid SMG Cape Town City when purchasing a pre-owned car, and instead seek out alternative dealerships. The establishment's reputation does not align with the standards expected of a BMW dealership, and the lack of transparency regarding the condition of purchased vehicles is concerning. Furthermore, the treatment of hardworking individuals and failure to address costly mechanical issues is unacceptable. It is important to exercise caution when dealing with this dealership, as they have displayed ********* behavior. Additionally, there are indications of potential ************** based on socioeconomic status and ethnicity. Despite returning the defective car, there has been ongoing difficulty in obtaining a refund from SMG Cape Town City. Caution should be exercised when engaging with this organization, as it appears that they may take advantage of individuals, particularly considering potential weaknesses within the legal system.

I was in the process of purchasing a vehicle from SMG BMW Conantia when the sales lady, Simone Govender, approached me asking for money for a sick relative of hers (a relative that does not exist, she wanted to get money by using a sad story). What she didn’t know was that I had known her family since I was a child growing up in durban. It turned out that Simone was asking another client for money for a deceased family member. This family member, according to Simone's mother and sister, doesn’t even exist! Simone's own family have written her off as a person and refuse to talk to her. She has a history of deceiving people and asking for money under false pretenses. I strongly advise anyone buying a vehicle to steer clear of this ********* sales representative.
