I’m writing this email to remind everyone that tertiary education is difficult, and even more so if there’s no support. Bachelor of Education as a fourth year student has been extremely challenging. I work tirelessly and give off everything I have in me, for this degree.
As a private institution we expect deliverance, and not just reading slides to us.
We pay 75 000 for contact learning, but we now supposedly call it blended learning, where those lectures are done by other lecturers across the country. Some read in a monotone voice, and cannot pronounce words, despite our efforts to flag this, it continues year after year.
In saying this, I have to admit that are a few lecturers such as Ms Rabia Khan, Ms Sullivan and Dr Lucas Pillay who tries to assist us within their capacities.
The MC”s don’t understand the amount of work, time and effort required to lecture these modules. It is clearly a different ball game for the lecturers. They are told we do not need scopes, but other campuses get a better understanding and revision.
Assignments are set and they unable to explain it properly. Once again they read of the power point. exam guidelines are very vague.
Sometimes we are spoken too in such a blunt tone and questions are not answered.
The influx of students this year has left us with no space to even sit and eat our lunch.
Every matter that is raised is never addressed and they do not even meet us half way. We just get told to self study. Study guides are not provided, so we are required to spend another 8000 over and above the R75 000 for additional books.
I am mentally and physically exhausted and drained from these years of studying through Stadio.
Best regards,
