28 Oct 2020, 08:00I bought a Renault Sandero 900 T expression from Sterling Renault Herm**** in 2018 with 100 km on the clock. It was such a bad buy.
It is 2 years later and the car has several rust spots. Even though they took the car in for an evaluation and committed to cover the rust under the warranty, I have to go through the inconvenience of having this fixed. And how do I know if other spots will not appear - probably just as it is out of warranty. When I arrived at the panel beaters, the terms and conditions on the courtesy car was a max of 155 km and thereafter more than R8 / km. The panel beaters told me to sort this out with Sterling Renault and bring the car back when it is sorted. I sat at the panel beaters reception and phoned Gerrie from Sterling Renault. He said I must leave and he will sort it out, which I understood as I must leave and bring my car back when the courtesy car is sorted. Within a few minutes he phoned me back and gave me a laid into me for not giving him all the information..... Really?
My vehicle has been at the dealership a few times with complaints (electrical problem: the wiper switches on/off as it wishes so does the radio. Had to jumpstart my new car twice even though nothing has been left on. They did replace the battery and then it happened again. The gear ratio between 4th and 5th gear is frustrating: it is either too low or too high when you travel between 70 and 90 km per hour) Each time they returned my car saying nothing is wrong. I live in Bettys bay which is 2 towns away from Herm**** and it is a huge inconvenience. They had my car for a week but returned it with the same problems. (they did give me a courtesy car) After a year I just gave up. The car still has the same problems.
About 4 months after I purchased the car, I told the sales person (Shaun) that I am extremely unhappy with the vehicle. I requested him to source me a trade in. Never had any feedback. This conversation was telephonically, so I have no proof. At some stage I insisted in written communication via e-mail, as once again they are good at horsing around.
