Poor quality paint.
I painted with Stevensons linen silk white and within a few weeks the paint started flaking from my wall, this after two coats and proper preparation. And I have no damp. I normally use Plascon and this was the first time I used Stevensons and the last time. A waste of money.

Stevens Paint Mega Paint Centurion
Since 2014 we as a business is using Stevens paint (Mega Paints Mooikloof ), there normal paint for inside and outside and there Megna bond sealant for roofs. The last 4 years we have a major problem with Megna bond I(JP) did phone them they did send out one of there people to have look he (Logan) firstly said that it is a problem with Megna bond self, Freddie from Mega Paint Mooikloof also said that the problem is with the product. Now out of a sudden it is our problem (see attach there report). My question is why only now and not from the first time that I have used it, but it was also said to me that one of the directors went on pension and the other one is cutting costs. On the ridges and valleys, it is clearly visible that the paint is flaking due to the DFT not being correct and cannot hold to the exterior environments too long. The Fast Magna Bond has been applied to thin and not according to the instructions on the tin. You can also see from the brush strokes that only one coat of paint has been applied. 21 August 2020 Mooikloof Recommendations & Disclaimer NB The most important factor in coating any substrate is the preparation prior to painting. Ensure that the correct paint system is used for the specific substrate. Consider the time and cost to prepare and apply any paint system in relation to the durability and life expectancy. Always ensure that all substrates are in a sound condition prior to painting. Before painting commence, ensure that the surface is dry, clean, free from any contamination e.g. dust, crease, oils, waxes, algae and fungus or any loose particles. Proper surface preparation is the key to a durable and long lasting paint system. The practical spreading rate will vary depending on the porosity and profile of the substrate, as well as the application technique and tools used. Disclaimer Stevensons Paint Direct shall not be liable for: 1. Damage to the coating arising from external causes outside Stevensons Paint control such as, welding, pollution, acid rain, mechanical damage, hydrostatic pressure, electrical or electrolyte damage, incorrect cleaning or incorrect use, neglect, fire , explosion, radiation, collision or other accident, acts of God, vandalism or other malicious damage, damage caused due to industrial action. 2. Soft, under bound, friable and highly porous surfaces must be restored to a sound condition with STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER or STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER W/B before painting. Gypsum plaster, gypsum board, hardboard: Prime with STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER or STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER W/B. If a gypsum plaster has been used as the joint skimming filler on gypsum board or dry wall partitioning, then these areas must be sealed with STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER or STEVENSONS TM PLASTER PRIMER W/B. Wood: Sand smooth with 150 grit paper working in the direction of the grain, dust off. Prime entire surface with STEVENSONS TM UNIVERSAL UNDERCOAT. Mild steel: Degrease with FAST GREASE BUSTER. Spot prime bare areas with appropriate primer. Clean with FAST SUGAR SOAP to remove all contaminants. Rinse with clean water to remove all traces of SUGAR SOAP. Sand glossy enamel surfaces thoroughly to an even matt finish, dust off and apply one coat of STEVENSONS TM UNIVERSAL UNDERCOAT. Previously painted surfaces in poor condition: Completely remove paint by most appropriate means e.g. s****ing, course sanding or stripping with FAST PAINT ********. Wash thoroughly with FAST SUGAR SOAP. Rinse with fresh water. Proceed as for new work. Chalky surfaces: Remove as much of the chalky surface as possible. Seal with STEVENSONS PAINTS BONDING LIQUID and allow drying for 16hrs. At the time of inspection there was no chalking or high moisture evident, however should chalking or high moisture levels be evident when painting commences an on-site inspection must first take place to ensure work is done in the correct manner. Should there be 50% or more of the surface require patch priming, it is recommended for a full coat of the specified primer be applied. Bright Colours may not cover as well as normal earthly colours or Standard colours. Due to the higher levels of ***ments inside of the paint the requirement for multiple coats will be needed. When Painting of a surface commence it is always best to ensure that painting commence from corner to corner and not be patched. Uneven surfaces will result in a patchy appearance due to texture or level of surface, our products are made to help with this situation but cannot be held liable due to poor application of the work prior to painting. Worst service I've ever seen from such a big supplier
I bought a paint supplied by Stevenson paints at a certain hardware store. Their product Franklin Hunt showed me wonders. After two weeks the paint started peeling off and unfortunately at the front. I became so frustrated, and contacted the hardware which couldn't help but communicated with a technician from Stevensons. I was told my wall was damp which I disagreed on. My question was if I was crazy enough to paint the damp wall then why is it peeling at the front only? They lady tried to help me by compensating me with a 5 litre which she claimed she bought it from her pocket. That told me that they company wasn't prepared to meet my complain. I bought two 20 litres and was given only 5 litres which cannot cover an area that is damaged now. I'm so stressed knowing that I have to buy other two 20 litres and pay for labor. My money went down the drain and nobody seem to care. Now my house looks like an old vandalized house. They hardware and both the supplier benefited from me but it was a huge loss for me. Their services is bad, in a way that I also tried to contact someone from their offices via emails, at first there was good communication but now the gentleman is nowhere to be found. I emailed him but he doesn't even bother to respond. I would like the other customers to be aware of paints from Stevenson before they encounter the same problem. I can't understand how can a company that has been here since 1979 CA offer such service. I'm very disappointed and frustrated.

I bought their x2 20 litres of their products by Franklin Hunt on the 05/09 to paint my house. The house was painted on the 06/ 09 during a nice fine weather. After 2 weeks the paint started peeling off and funny at the front of the house only. It frustrated me thinking that I paid so much for the paint that lasted only two weeks on my walls and which stats the guarantee of 5 years. I contacted the Hardware where I bought the paint, which consulted the necessary person at the supplier. I was told that the technician said the problem is a caused by a damp walls. I told the lady that that's not true because I wouldn't be that stupid to paint damp walls, I know that the weather was perfect for painting and if that was the case the whole house should be peeling off. But the paint is still fine at the back and side. Then it was their words against mine. I felt that I was treated very unfairly because no technician was sent to my place to assess the walls they talked based on the pictures I sent. The lady then told me that she will pay the paint from her pocket which is 5 litres and knowing that I bought x 2 20 litres makes me angry. That means I spent on 20 litres for nothing, I gave away my money for nothing. I mean I had a choice to buy Dulux, Homestead or Fire Earth paints but prefered to but their supply which I regret. The service I was given is uncalled for, I had every right to complain if I'm wasnt happy with the product. I wasted my money on paint and on the painter, now I'm left with only 5 litre that Im not sure if it will cover the damage because it's getting worse every day. My house looked nice for only 2'weeks now it looks like an old abonden building. I'm so disappointed with the service. If I had to rate their service I would give them a zero.

My house looked nice for only 2'weeks now it looks like an old abonden building. I'm so disappointed with the service. If I had to rate their service I would give them a zero.
