My boyfriend and I visited Stones in Durbanville, and from the moment we arrived, we experienced noticeably unfair treatment from one of the bartenders. When we first tried to order, the bartender repeatedly ignored us, and although we initially assumed he might simply be tired, the behavior continued throughout the night. While playing pool with people we met, we decided to move to the quieter section of the bar, where we received excellent service from another staff member with long hair, who treated everyone equally and was incredibly attentive. Later, when we went to request a glass of water before leaving, we approached a tall bartender. He walked toward us, then told us to wait, and proceeded to assist people who had arrived long after us. Even once he finished with them, he looked directly at us, ignored us again, and started wiping tables. I noticed throughout the night that he consistently served white customers while ignoring Black and Coloured customers. His attitude was arrogant, dismissive, and unprofessional, and he repeatedly pulled faces at me when I tried to get his attention. When I asked him directly whether he had an issue with Coloured people, he denied it but responded in a rude and defensive way. The ****** we experienced from this staff member made us feel extremely unwelcome in a place we previously thought was comfortable, enjoyable, and close to home. It was deeply disappointing, especially since the other staff members were respectful and professional, and what could have been a good night ended on a horrible note.

My friend and I were in the bathroom at stones when a man started aggressively banging on the door and shouting. When we came out, there were about 3/4 bouncers standing inside the girls' bathroom. They were very rude and accused us of doing cocaine with absolutely no proof. This was a complete lie. We have never done cocaine in our lives. They weren't interested in what we had to say and started kicking us out quite forcefully. The man shouted across stones to another bouncer saying we were doing cocaine in the bathroom. This is absolutely disgusting treatment. So many people heard this and saw this take place which is defamation of character. If the wrong person were to have heard, it could have gotten back to our employers. They did not even bother to check for any sort of proof. They simply made an assumption based on what? We did nothing wrong. All we did was go to the bathroom. The fact that there were men inside the girls' bathroom is already an issue on its own. I no longer feel safe in this establishment nor do I trust the bouncers. They are meant to make us feel protected but they made us feel scared and left two young women out on the street at 12 am with zero proof to warrant this. I sent an email about this to them but I got no response.

This place is trash! We went there for the first time having accidentally spotted it whilst driving around. The manager was rude from the onset, he refused to give us the range of beverages and was put off when we realised that there's more to offer. We also noticed that he was high. The bar help told us on two occasions that we should rather run a tab to avoid running bank charges. The manager flexed and told us that we couldn't and wouldn't explain why even when we told him what we had been told. He eventually got annoyed and instructed another staff member to attend to our FIRST round. Given that we were the only people of color, the only patrons who were ignored and mistreated, it's hard to ignore the fact that this WAS an issue of race. As soon as you recognize the possibility of other races wanting to patronize you the better.
