Sureclean pools - Shocking wokmanship - "I never said the paint would seal your pool" !!!

I submitted photographs in an email to this company http://www.hengro-poolprotect.co.za/poolprotect.html The photo shows a plaster lined brick pool where my current lining had failed and was peeling /flaking off ( mix of fibreglass and epoxy paint) . I asked them to quote on using their pool epoxy coating product to reline the pool. They put me in touch with a recommended contractor – Donavan Jenni at Surecleanpools - A pool company

I send Donavan Jenni the photos and asked him to quote . I asked him to come and view the pool which he said was unnecessary as he could see from the photos what was required. I gave him the go ahead and paid the deposit

On day one he came and stated removing the flaking lining. Which was a combination of epoxy and fiberglass. He removed 90% but left large patches which looked really bad ( see attached picture). I asked him to come back and fix this and sand down so there were no bad patches. After much arguing he came back with an angle grinder and sanded down the patches and recoated the pool which looked better. I was told to wait 7 days so it could harden completely and that it would not leak. He also told me he had inspected the pool for cracks etc and saw nothing.

Result: I filled the pool on the 27th October and within 3 days it had virtually drained of water ( see photo After completion – this was on Sunday )

When contacting Hengro today, to ask for a solution I was told that the product used was NOT made to seal the pool. Its was a product applied for making it look good and like new. Its was not for sealing or holding out water .

My complaint is When enquiring about the product they should have told me it would not retain water in a pool . I asked both Hengro and Sureclean pools to confirm that this would work as the previous coating failed. Donavan guaranteed it would harden and there would be no leaks !!!!!!!! When asking for a quotation based on the very clear photos of what the pool looked like, Donavan Jenni should have said that the product would not work. He offered me a 10 year guarantee AFTER seeing the photos and the state of the pool. He was aware that it was a brick plastered pool . He should not have commenced the job with this product after inspecting the pool if he knew this would not retain water. Its unacceptable that one paints a product on the walls of a swimming pool and knowing it does not retain water. !!! He blocked me when i tried to take further action
