Had good service from Waiter and the food was perfectly made until "the Owner according to what he told me" Stefan started reprimanding his staff in front of us. When i suggested he do it elsewhere, i was told i cannot tell him how to run his restaurant. I simply asked for my bill and left with my partner without completing our meals.

So on Thursday evening, 7/12/17 we decided to give Surfside Restaurant a try after a friend suggested the place a while back. Drove all the way from Elsiesriver to Strand for that experience. We got into the place, got seated and sat and waited for about 10 minutes before my husband called a waiter that passed and asked how it works there seeing that its our first dining experience at that establishment and he was a bit confused..... Asking if no one served us yet. Eventually our order have been paced and once again we waited and waited...... My husband ordered the carvery and whilst we waiting nobody even came to tell him he can go dish (First time at the place and we don't know how the setup work). I ordered Eisbein (sticky with veggies) and got Eisbein (Crispy with chips).... My husband dished a little food at buffet and got so p****** with the service that he lost his appetite.... We got and and left after asking for the manager that same guy that gave the bad service pitched up and listened to our complaint.... My husband argument was also,after receiving such ****py service why he had to pay R199 for a buffet he didn't utilize fully. After about 10-20minutes arguing another employee came past and asked what the problem was. My husband just started telling him, and he cuts my husband off very rudely ,telling him that he is not interested, locked the door and told my husband the he can explain to the police. After a while I went in ,had to calm my husband down and paid the bill (which I still think we should not have paid) just so we can leave because at that time my feet were swollen and I felt my blood pressure rising, being 16 weeks pregnant. This upset my 9 year old son tremendously as he started crying ,saying he want to go home..... Needless to say, it was petrol wasted, driving all the way to Strand and also money wasted ......

<p>My experience: visited surfside today with my family & what a horrible experience this was. To start off with we waited over 2 hours for our sushi order (baring in mind that there were only 3 tables in the restaurant),not a busy day at all for a restaurant. After waiting for over 2 hours we finally get our orders and the orders were plated incorrect and even had missing sushi items. We sent the order back to be fixed, that in its own took another 20 minutes, and when we received it again it was still not up to standard. Items were still missing and certain ingredients listed on the menu were not included. Not to mention the cream cheese in some of the sushi was off. On top of this we had a insencere waiter, no manager on duty (as we were told) and a chef that gave us a one line explanation that he's more busy serving orders in the bar area than the actual restaurant & then walks away. All we wanted was our bill and to get out of there. The bill eventually came and this was also incorrectly calculated. Also having the nerve to charge a 10% service fee. When asked how they are going to compensate for this mess up all that was said to us is that no items can be voided and the waiter gave a snotty comment that we could be arrested should we not pay the full bill. Needless to say the sushi was definitely not worth the 2 n half hour wait and service was horrible. A kitchen manager eventually showed up out of the blue and voided the drinks of our bill but I will never return ever again or recommend this place based upon the service we got. </p>

I ordered my eisbein with mash, sorry we dont serve mash!! Choice of chips or potatoe.. So i ordered butter and milk and made my own at the table. Drinks were not rung up correctly... Presentation of food terrible. Will not go back anytime soon.. And who says u can charge a surcharge on any group of table?? It is up to the customer to decide if your restaurant or service is worthy of any other and above of what u charge?? So the small print fooled me!! Were 4 eating customers ( 1lady only had drinks) and a 3 month old baby... But their "fine print" said table of 6 or more extra 10%... What!!! </p>

I normally take my wife every year there for Valentine's day and kids. This year, things ain't right. First impressions last they say, carpets were dirty and food and hings were laying on the carpet, as if they never vacuums. Our food were served fast, but kiddies chicken nuggets hard as rock and using too much crumbs, burger was soggy and burger sauce not nice and black like tar? My wife's seafood was a disgrace and chicken bleu is more like melted cheap cheese overflow? Manager was very apologetic over everything, but left us with a bad memory of the once beautiful and very worth every cent food...we will not return next year.

We went there with a Groupon voucher for a seafood platter. I asked the lady if it was okay to email it as we could not print and she said fine. However the very rude manager walks up and says no you must print it and sends me and my pensioned parents to the internet cafe across the road. We go but when there they tell us their printer is also out of ink and they cannot print. <br> <br> When I call Surfside to tell them I cannot print the manager did not once try and help us or accommodate us, and when I said 'I need to cancel my reservation and I guess I will be returning my voucher' he said 'okay'. Really?! Okay? Truly the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. This restaurant is close to losing nearly all their clientele.
